OK I want to make some changes in my website and need to take OFF adsense. Will this action hurt my google ranking ? My site is on first page for lots of keywords, varying from 1st to 4th position.

I think you doing this will actually increase your page load time, infact which is a good SEO strategy

Adsense ads has nothing to do with your site ranking. But the changes on your site especially the content can hurt your ranking.
