Hello fellow web people,
I was wondering if someone could explain something to me.
I applied for an Adsense a while back and it was pending for two months, when I finally questioned it they told me it was because I did not have my own domain name.
I went out and purchased one www.sj-solutions.co.uk is now up and running.
I asked them to look at it again and they told me there was not enough content on my site, so I redesigned it and added more content.

I have asked them again to look at it and now they are saying it is not on my own domain.

I use free webspace provided by Virgin Media, so www.sj-solutions.co.uk redirects to http://www.sjsolutions.webspace.virg...site/home.html

Can anyone tell me what I need to do, I am very confused. Do I need to buy commercial webspace?

Thanks in advance :-)

It might be because technically the virgin.com address isn't your own. In any case if you want to appear professional then buying some proper hosting for your domain is a smart move anyway.

But then again why on earth do you want to puts ads on a business site?

I'm kind of with blue-dreamer on this one. You wouldn't really want ads on your "business" site and it would be doubtful you would get traffic that would make it worthwhile. That may be why Google is denying you. My suggestion, for what it's worth, keep everything the way it is (the site looks good and has a nice layout) but add a blog to it. Write a tech article once a week or so, or even review new hardware or something. Get a couple of posts under your belt and Google will probably approve you for ads on the blog. The blog will generate traffic without a lot of work and being a tech format will help get you some good ads displaying.

Hi thanks for the reply. I'm not really sure. Its not a business as such, just an ongoing project to point people to who ask for the endless favors!
Can you suggest a preferred hosting company? My domain name is currently with 123-reg.

I really appreciate your feedback on my site, only family have seen it so far so I have had not had anyone with a web based background cast their eye over it and its nice to know that my first attempt is ok!
If I added a blog to the site could I get Google ads on only that part of my site or would it apply to all of it?

I think I am really out of my comfort zone with this, I have it looking how I want it to but I have no idea how to get any traffic to it or make money from it!

Set up the blog and use that as your application for Adsense. Once you are approved you are considered a publisher and are allowed to use Adsense on any site you own. I've been running Adsense for over 4 years and the site I had used to apply for the account hasn't been around in forever.

Ok thats great I'll try that but I'm not a big talker so I'll have to think hard about what I'm going to blog about on a regular basis!
Before I do this is it wise to get the hosting sorted out?

Yes, get your hosting sorted out. I'm not sure where you are but if you're in the US I can recommend a place that is pretty cheep. If not there may be some good suggestions here:
http://www.webmaster-talk.com/web-hosting-forum/

Once you have a domain and hosting sorted out. Start the blog (I'd recommend Wordpress since it's free and easy to get started with) then make a few posts and apply for Adsense.

Don't worry too much about what to write about. You can start off simple. Your site shows you offer service for virus removal and PC health checks. You could hit up the A/V sites and get some info on the latest viruses that are out and write about it. You could also write about new hardware that is coming out, (video cards, processors, etc). Maybe even a post about the pros and cons of weather a private consumer should get a machine with Windows 7 32-bit vs 64-bit. This serves two purposes, it gives you content for your blog and a source for traffic, and inversely if anyone is interested in your company they can see that you are staying current and up to date on what's going on.

Just some thoughts. Good luck.
