Hey guys,

I have owned a music site now for about 5 years and just found out about adsense. I get a great # of viewers a day, so it should a cool thing for me to try out. HOWEVER, i am very rusty on HTML and realized I dont have a right column on my website to display google ads.... im not quite sure where to put them then? Im not sure if i can show you my link on here or not... but ill try unless someone says something: It's at: http://www.geocities.com/michelleseverywhere

I just need a little guidance. Im lost

THanks

Heather

Man, I should show this to my friend. He's got a serious thing for Michelle Branch. (Not that I can blame him...she's hot in that little girl throwing a temper tantrum and should be illegal to touch kind of way).

Anyway, my thought would be to blend them. I've experienced some success recently by using the top right section of my body copy to place ads.

See this page: http://www.searchenginefriendlylayouts.com/layouts . It gets clickthroughs and they pay pretty well.

Mind you, I'm not sure if Google would be okay with the ads being on Geocities. Isn't there some kind of contextual ad competition thing with Yahoo! happening there?

That's funny your friend loves michelle branch!

As for geocities, my site did get accepted. wouldnt that mean it's okay?

As far as blending and ads go, i am having a TERRIBLE time. I can't seem to get relevant ads to my site, and I cant seem to place them where anyone will click. Not one person has clicked on them..... its quite depressing. Is there anyway you can help me? Your site looks great by the way.

Take your site out of frames. Google is looking for text on the page that the ad's are located, if there are not many in that frame then you will not get relevant results.

How long have the ads been up? sometimes it takes awhile for Google to show relavant ads....Although I see your dilemma with the whole Michelle Branch and getting ads for branch banking...What ads are you targeting? Other music sites? Are they going to be investing much into PPC. My advice...research research and research. CONTENT IS KING

Good Luck,

Roland

OK...I know next to nothing about music sites but I'd figure you create a page about music downloads for instance. create some keyword specific content about MP3's or whatever. Make it relative to your main subject. (Link to Michelle Branch downloads)
then create a link from your main traffic page that creates some interest from your visitors.
Just an opinion.

Thats such a good idea! Problem is though.. how do i make an ad that will be similar to the keywords? as long as i talk about music on the page.. itll automatically have ads that are about music?

correct the Google ads are driven by the keywords in your content...
i.e. michelle 'branch" spawned "branch" banking
