Hi;

I'm published adsense ads on one of my sites for nearly 9 months.

For all this times ,i was getting 5k visitors daily and my ctr was between %2-%3.5 .

but i have started to get 20k visitors daily and my ctr has increased over %5 .

i have done nothink to do this . google has started to send more visitors and i'm using same adsense placement.

i have two questions about my adsense .

* do you think this a good ctr?

* do you think that i must afraid because this ctr? is this a reason to be banned?

Thanks for help

HIgh CTR cannot banned you but its just ads too relevant to the content that people are interested in them. If you are not violating any terms specially the self clicking enjoy the bucks.

a 5% click rate is very high, and 20K visitors from 5K is huge increase, look at your server logs to see if any of the traffic stands out (same IP address) - because it may be that someone is trying to convince google you are frauding them to get you banned, if I were you I would be very concerned - with that amount of traffic you must be making decent revenue and have a lot to lose

I disagree - google can ban you whenever they like, while they won't do it for no reason - just read some other threads to see people who have been suspended or banned thru no fault of their own, its in your interests - even if not in your responsibilties to prevent click fraud on your site

Nope. They are here to do a business and the threads you are referring to is from the banned peoples but if we have one thread for people making money from adsense then you will see the real picture. I could not find the url to the thread I have read at sitepoint sometime back.

Also the threads you are referring is only from the adsense publishers and not anything from other side.

what???? adsense publishers are the ones who get banned, who else are google going to ban, adword publishers, adbrite publishers, of course I'm refering to adsense publishers who get banned - thats what the thread is about, an adsense publisher who is worried he may get banned, through no fault of his own - google do not operate a jury system - they have the final say and are accountable to no one, if they suspect click fraud they can ban you - full stop

Google bans it's adsense accounts for a variety of reasons, many which have been mentioned here. While I've never heard of Google banning someone just because of an increased CTR, one of the main reasons Google bans adsense accounts is because of increased traffic.

When you have an adsense account, Google knows more about your site than you do. They have algorithms that track your traffic. They know where it originates from (especially if it originates from their search engine). They know how to look for identical IPs, reload times, etc.

Google has been putting out lots of PR in the last few months about its Clickfraud rate and while their numbers are so laughably false, one thing they have been doing is starting to crack down on "alleged" violators more and more quickly, and with even less transparency than before (if you can believe that). So, if you're not doing anything wrong, then don't worry. If, however, you haven't done ANYTHING at all, then worry. There is NO way traffic can increase from 5k to 20k without any action on your part. So think. Did you start a new marketing campaign? Do you even have an Adwords account? Have you been engaged in viral marketing, linkbaiting, etc? There has to be SOME reason to account for your increase, and if you can identify it, and it's legit, then don't worry. Sit back, and count your money.

However, if you can't identify the reason for your traffic increase, then you've got a major problem. The traffic increase you see is probably not legit and might go on Google's radar. Start reviewing your traffic logs and maybe you might even want to suspend your adsense account for awhile, lest it be too late and Google terminates it.

Also, remember that an increase in CTR (and 5% is good, but hardly outstanding) does not mean an increase in conversions.

The past years I focused on a big CTR ...If you have a good information site without big spam ... it's normal to get a CTR above 10%

On spam sites build only for adsense it goes up to 30%

Very interesting read, and it makes a lot of sense, but I'm not sure about this part. I've been picked up a couple of times by "social bookmark" sites, and seen traffic peak over a few days, then settle back down to normal. If you're using "linkbait," this is kind of unpredictable; someone who runs a high traffic site could notice six month old "bait" and link to it, sending a lot of traffic your way. Highly unlikely, but both of these could happen at the same time.

The whole point to designing for human visitors to get organic traffic is that people should be finding your site without any intervention on your part. But not 4x all of a sudden. I would definitely be keeping an eye on the logs. Personally I would assume some marketing campaign paid off, and I'd want to continue whatever I was doing right, but if you see too much traffic from an IP address you don't use ( if you publish then test ), or the same traffic pattern from a series of different IP addresses, you might want to block them.

the 30% CTR sites are those annoying sites that list a directory of topics such as Hotels by State > City, and then offer nothign but a list of adsense ads well-blended into the site, most users can't really tell the difference and even if, they don't care.
