It depends on how you have optimized the ads, what niche your site is, how targetted your traffic is, etc. The better the things that I have mentioned the more you will earn. Also a good amount of traffic is also needed.

Cheers up, man! Adsense earning may varies a lot, and no need to be so frustrated for those 2 or 3 days who showed decreased in earning.

Put more effort to promote your blog.

40$ a month with more then 1 site?...

If you are only running one site run more then one site because obviously your keyword is not helping you.


Make sure all of your content is keyword rich and unqiue as that helps Google determine how "relative" your site is and how much you actually make per click. .

Go for more expensive keywords then what you are currently doing.

(Or start a different type of website Affilate/Gaming Site) as those earn money without the use of GOogle Adsense and game's can be very lucerative.

These are a few things..I'm sure there is more but this should due.

I always make mulitple sites, so I have tons of income. HIgh keywords for testers is always a good idea....Webmaster keyword pays roughly good ..lol. I have used it ...and many other keywords ..any keyword I have ever used lowest was .30-.90c per click. IF you are not getting that there is something wrong with content

I think my main problem is adsense is not my main focus, I want to make money from hotel bookings, but run the adsense ads because after a biz arrangment went *i*'s up, I was left with loads of content and no supplier to place bookings with, have since developed a much more sophisticated system that interfaces with multiples suppliers, but its taken a long time to get in that position and I still have a lot good ranking pages for hotels where I don't have good availability for bookings so the ads supplement the income, but its so little, and its not increasing even though traffic is, should I just take them off?, will leave it another couple of months anyway - thanks for the input everyone

Have you thought about placing the adsense below the title instead of at the end of your post? Sometimes changing things around helps a lot.

the ads are at the top under the main navigation and also at the page bottom, the bottom ads make more money than the top ones

Or you can create a quality website, that people with lots of money like, and they pay you for it!!

I already have many of those, they are called text-based game sites =)
