In the past, I've always used my home office to access my Adwords accounts. I have to start traveling for work and I need to be able to manage my Adwords accounts on the road.
I was considering using Starbucks wifi and other free services available but I keep seeing stories of people using free wifi for accessing adwords and then getting permanently banned because a "banned adwords user" has used that same ip address (in Starbucks, a public library, bookstore, etc). Using public ips to manage Adwords seems like it could be playing with fire.
I'd rather not be a victim of this and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to avoid this from possibly happening.
The options I was considering so far:
1. A mobile broadband laptop card such as Sprint Air Card. These are pricey and require contracts. I assume I would have a unique ip that would keep me safe though. There are some plans that allow you pay as you go, and I thought I would turn it on when accessing Adwords and then use the free wifi services when I am out of Adwords.
2. An anonymous browsing ip program such as
http://www.hide-my-ip.com. This serves as a web proxy and allows you to pick an ip in the location of your choice. But then again, it's my understanding that the ip you pick could be used by a "banned Adwords user" and could result in a ban, just like with the free wifi. Also, I don't know if using this type of proxy service would raise a flag in the Google system.
3. Set up a Virtual Dedicated Server (with Godaddy, etc) and use that server as reverse proxy (connection would be from my laptop, to the VPS reverse proxy, and then to my Adwords account). This is a bit pricey and may be over my head to set up but, if it's the only option that is safe, that's what I may have to do.
I'm still new to this and would love some suggestions (other ideas, etc). Thank you for any help.
