I was talking to someone in another forum - and grant it, I'm no PPC expert - but he was saying that CPM was a lot better than CPC as far as cost wise. I think the only negative was that you couldn't put these type of ads on all the networks.
It can be, though is does depend on the market it is applied to.
"low ticket" products or if you are just driving "signups", where purchases or other advertising revenue may follow on are where CPM is a better model.

A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds
Thought for today:- Is SEO the only industry where all the cowboys are Indians?
Like Chris said it depends. It depends on the market and it also depends on your goals with the ad. Is the ad going to exist more for branding or is the ad specifically to get people to click through to the site.
Naturally it also depends on who else is bidding on the keyword and what you'll need to spend to make sure the ad is visible.

CPM works great when targeting on highly relevant pages. By getting high CTR and paying fixed price for 1000 impressions you can reduce the cost of single click to 1 cent or even less.
I agree. It depends on market and goals of your ad.Because both are important but CPM is far more good when targeting relevant pages.More over it depends on traffic you are getting.
