I had my one and only campaign paused and made sure my Display Network unchecked. However, I still got 30 clicks after I unchecked it. I ended up deleting my ad campaign - thinking that there is now way my ads can get out there.

My question is - when I paused my campaign and my display network was unchecked - why did my ads continue to show on the display network?

This is just a guess

The changes in Adwords are almost real-time ... so if you stop at 12 AM ... you can get 30 clicks in 5 or 10 minutes i don't know ...

This can't be possible that after pausing the campaign your ads are showing on other websites. make sure that the campaign is paused properly.
