Hi, i read in a SEO Blog that the guy had put online a brand new site like two week before google's pagerank update, hired adwords and did no seo or web promotion (other than adwords). When google updated he had PR2. He claims that Google gives higher pagerank if the site uses adwords...Didnt know if it was true but everybody knows that a brand new site with zero promotion cant get a PR2 in 15 days.

I read on another blog that a man with a pr0 site hired adwords and in a month a PR1 appeard on his site without google updating the Pageranks. He also said that Google updated once in a while the PR of the sites using adwords even if there was no general PR update.

I wanted to know if someone had heard of this or if it had happened to you or someone you know. Im not planning on using adwords but im starting 2 new sites so if this was true, ill thinks of it just to give the sites a quick PR without waiting for the next update

First off, toolbar PR is complete BS other than on the 4 times out of the year it's updated, and even then it's a crapshoot.

Second, did he put up a new site on a new domain name? Or did he use an existing domain name that had already been promoted?

Adwords has no tiein to PR whatsoever. The hyperlinks themselves are embedded in a Javascript and they're supplied by Google, so there's no search benefit anyway (it would be retarded for them to do this simply because they'd turn their engine into Overture, and that would KILL them.)

So wherever your buddies got their info from, it's bogus.

Adwords and PR has nothing in common. You cant expect google to loose their credibility in such a cheap way. Any other arguments will be with some other personal interest.

I think that the reason he got PR 2 in 15 days or a month had to be something else... but not Adwords..

sometimes sites get pr just because. having been adworded is probably a coincidence, he was just lucky. just as me with one website with very little content, and only a bunch of backlinks. was caught by the last updated and got pr.

adwords and PR having nothing in common. If that where the case than I should have a PR of 10 with the amounts of $$$ I've given google. it is possible for your PR to gain without seo and web promotion. Link building is not the only determining factor in gaining PR. I guess the blog entry was based on excitement as opposed to reseaching what metics are involved in PR rank to accuratly quantitfy what caused the increase without web promotion.

this is not true. The fact that a wesite advertises on adwoards means that it is not relaible because he has nor ranks. PR means that trust of google and the importance to the site. Why would adwords give a PR (free) for a most likely spam site. i donno - i will test it out although.

I dont think this is true. I got from 0 - 5 pagerank with only a few directory submissions in 3 months. And no Adwords.

It will cost you money and has no chance of working.
Google doesn't see adsense ads when it visits a page because they are delievered by javascript.

stOx, I am inclined to agree but, I noticed one thing while experimenting with adwords.
When searching for links to my site, the results exploded.
Granted, its all junk sites. It appears there are a lot of sites that strip the ads and hardcode them. I don't claim to understand why.
It hasn't helped my page rank at all, and it actually makes it more difficult to find the legit sites linking to me.
My experiment will end soon but, right now, it doesn't look like the ad words has really done much to help traffic either.

adwords will not effect your page rank or serp result . links inside <a href= tag effect your page rank but adwords shows your link with a java script code so that will not effect your page rank
