Very nice, I definitely like how the second one has 'Bored' in grey but I like the layout of the first one with '.NET' underneath. The 'E' can also be easily used elsewhere around the website, like a mini-logo or favicon, great work.

Prize raised to $15.00 USD, see if we can get anymore entries - closes in 3 weeks time anyway so I won't be deciding a winner until then.

Sorry for double posting, but just another update, I have attached some image which can give you more of an idea, you can use my original idea, or decide on your own, these are just some images which you can use.

They definitely go with what I am looking for/what the site is all about.

Yes, looking good, I think a more 'cartoony' look for the font would be nice also.

For anyone else looking at giving it a go, why not try and substitute the letter 'O' in your design for the little sleeping emoticon attached in my post above.

Well I am going to end up needing a white background for the banner, instead of the grey gradient, but that's not really and idea/improvement. I like the first one better, but the second one would be better than that is the 'E' blended into the logo a bit, to make it look more apart of the circle. With the same colour/shading maybe? Cartoony/glassy effect. I am going to use this guy (as attached) as my kind of site mascot, so maybe incorporate him somehow, not sure though.

Oh, and you could probably space the 'E' and the 'R' in 'BORED' just a tad too. Also, another thing I noticed was that the 'E' and the smiley have a shadow, but the text doesn't. The way you used the smiley as the 'O' really works, I love it and the 'E' can be turned into a logo/favicon which is also fantastic.

Perhaps putting the mascot in the background, behind the 'D' in 'BORED', then we could have 5 rotating banners, all with different mascot images in the background... if you know what I mean.

Finding it hard to make the white "E" sort of glassy as it is done with overlays so if you overlay over white it is a bit dodgy!

I have added a shadow to do the text and I have added one of the little men, only thing is they are quite small so when the size is increased it loses quality, would be great if you had the vector files for these

It doesn't matter what size the banner is really, chances are I'll use two sizes/designs if that's okay? I've PM'ed you.

Hey Nick,

You could have a good chance of adding a glassy look to it if you use Adobe Flash CS3 and save it as a single layered image. Just offering a little help.
