I've only done a couple design requests in the past so please bear with me, I'll try to be as specific as possible.

I need this warthog symbol converted from a sketch to a real, web-enabled logo. The actual hog should be somewhat cartoonish - you can even take the actual sketch and apply your filter of choice to make it look right. The rest of the logo should be flashy and glossy though.

Color scheme:
http://www.gillettefusion.com/us/custom/en_US/
(navy and orange, similar to what you see on that site)

I'm thinking the outer ring should be the orange, with a tight-patterned navy interior--maybe a glassy, button-type reflective shine.

This is for a sport fishing company - this pdf is what the back of the boat looks like. Artbrush font is what I'm told is what was used - hoping we can match the same script on the logo. Logo should only read: "Salthog Sportfishing" - I'll change it later if need be.

Lettering can be inside or outside the circle, I'll have to see what you come up with to determine what looks better.

I only have PSP Photo X2 so I'd like to have the file in a vector format compatible with that software so I can tinker with it later.

Payment will likely be via PayPal but I'm not sure if it will come directly from me or from the client. One way or another you'll get your $ though.

Many thanks!
Color Scheme: Navy / Orange   Type of Design: Logo   Desired Dimensions: 800x800 (or above)   Desired Filetypes: Vector PSPimage   Prize: $40.00 USD   How prize will be delivered: TBD, probably PayPal   End Date: 2/18/08 or earier

Thanks GX3 and thank you fiona45 for offering to try also.

GX, here is some feedback:

1) I think he looks a little cross-eyed, maybe you can try to fix his eyes a little - point them both to the lower left?

2) Can we make the inner blue a little more spherical (shadow in lower left, highlight upper right)? I'd like to see a mild, tight pattern (such as what you see in the background pattern in the Gillette site) for the inner circle.

3) I think you have the right idea on the orange ring, right proportions and everything. I'd like to see it a little more metallic (maybe some ridges, like what you see in crown molding but obviously in a circle).

I asked the client to take a look and will get his input also.
We are curious to see what other artists can do with the animal/cartoon conversion so this is still an open contest.

Thank you everyone for your submissions. CnSGD so far I think yours comes closest to what I had in mind.

I think now that I've seen some of these I think the front of the snout should be a different color than the rest of the body (as in Davemies's submission - lighter grey, muted pink, tan?). The tusks should be a white/cream/ivory shade (similar to GX3's).

CnSGD I clicked on your larger view and it was a bit pixellated - is that because it's a sample? Realistically, I will be sizing this image down for use on the site but the client may want to use it elsewhere (stationary, marketing, etc), so that's why I'm asking for a larger res.

Again thank you everyone for your hard work - the final decision will rest with the client but I think he'll be happy with the direction we're going here. He is away for the weekend so do not expect a final say until Mon/Tue.

Yes mainly it seemed to have lost its resolution when it was uploaded to photobucket. I will put it on my site if you would like to see what it would look like in full resolution.
I will also change the colors on the tusk and snout to match what you were looking for so you can present it to them with that if you would like?

Thanks CnSGD - no need to see the full res version until a final decision has been made, I was just curious.

The client is monitoring this thread so if you have any updates feel free to post them here.

Thank you everyone, these are some great submissions. As I noted in the original request, please keep in mind that the vector image must be PSP-compatible (.pspimage)--I need to have the ability to tweak the image once I get it, and I no longer have PhotoShop.

I am going to suspend new submissions for the time being, I think we have enough talented candidates that we must now decide between them (and possibly ask for some final tweaks via private message).

Again, a final decision and payment will probably not be made until next Tuesday so please bear with us as we communicate about this further. If we ask for any additioanl changes/updates I will let you know. We will announce the final winner.

Thank you everyone for taking the time.

just a note but some of the effects might not translate from one app to another: for example i used some effects in fireworks that won't translate to psp AND remain editable - i can convert them to bitmaps but then those particular effects will no longer be editable. i suspect that this might be the case for those done in photoshop/other software too!

for a 100% editable logo it would have to be stripped of any filters/effects that won't translate to a format that psp can edit (so possibly anything that isn't vector, though i'm not sure whether it could import an EDITABLE PSD file... otherwise the effects would need to be built again on top of the vector base logo.

what version of psp do you have?
