Ya I agree with chaka42. I am not that good at designing, but I thought if this contest was just at WT I had a chance. I regret wasting 2 hours on something I had no shot at winning because it was held on multiple sites.

Yes. Of course it is more efficient to run a contest at multiple forums, that way you get more entries. And all the better if each forum believes they are the only entrants.

Sorry about this guys and gals. Next time, make sure you ask and maybe we will now add this as a requirement for opening new contests on WT (disclosure if you are having the contest on multiple forums).

There was no dishonesty nor an attempt to be unprofessional. Never at any point did we promise exclusivity to anyone one forum.

Fact is, no one wasted any time. Everyone on each forum had an equal and fair opportunity to submit an entry and the best entry would win. Everyone had a fair chance and no one forum was given preference over another, including this one. This one did not win and it had nothing to do with it's members but rather than a more creative idea to our liking was submitted on another forum.

We worked with countless designers both internally and publicly and it was my job to ensure that we picked the best logo. The winning designer not only received the prize money but additional work and most likely work for months to come.

My hope was that the contest be taken in the spirit that it was meant and that was a very tough competition. Fact is, we have at least 5 more competitions coming up and I was hoping that we could offer it to this forum but the competition is fierce and that wont change. I hope that everyone can understand and I wish you all the best of luck in future contest on this forum or any forum.

well, I THINK that it was very unprofessional for the members of this site to complain. Everyone on here is trying to make a quick buck. If you put the effort of complaining and arguing into your graphic design work, you will probably do much better. I would be surprised if the precharge corp even did business again with WT members. Way to bring down the morale and professionalism of this site.

Ok, 3-posts. EVERYONE is trying to make a quick buck? Does my portfolio site look like a fly-by-night operation? I take offense to that remark, im sure others do too.

Youre lucky I have no work so i can waste my time arguing here. Ha!

Woah ethan.... you are really good!

but on the matter at hand *clears throat* I am new to this stuff, I guess I never thought, duh... we're not the only board out there. But I was comparing my ideas and work to the others on this board, not on the other places the contest was submitted to. I think it would be good to have a policy that if you are posting on any other board to list what board it is. because that way we can have a look see at the whole competition.

My 2 cents.

precharge, i have no hard feelings about the situation. i was simply pointing out that, out of fairness for all who submitted, we should have been informed that this contest was being held at other forums. heck, even prospective clients tell you if there are other agencies competing for the job. it raises the stakes and is fair to everyone involved. like i said, i don't have any hard feelings about the situation since it's just spec work, and i feel that you chose the best logo of all the submissions.

i do hope that this will bear no repercussions with your future contests or graphics requests. i only ask that you disclose this kind of information as it will help the designers better serve your needs. this will only benefit you in the end.

on a side note:
bernard, what? you have a total of 3 posts and didn't even participate in the contest.

While in the future, we would definitely make it clear that it's a multi board contest, we would be VERY reluctant to post the actual websites.

What I have found in this contest as well as many others is that participants try to take one idea and make it better or just a few changes and submit them as their own. We completely dismiss any such post and don't want to spend the time looking at those. I find it unfair to the original designer, unacceptable that a good idea has to compete against itself and unprofessional to expect that the most creative should have to deal with imitations.

We want fresh new ideas and feel that by offering what appears to be a fair prize amount that we should expect no less. In fact, if it were up to me, each submission would be done in a closed bidding option, that way we could ensure that each idea is somewhat unique.

My advice to anyone on these boards submitting logo or designs that each idea be unique and when submitting them, do so as if you are competing with the world, not just this forum because after all, that's what the internet is about.

Best of luck.
