I am looking for a logo design for my new website, theminegame.net - basically the concept of the site is a silly and fun game pointing out things that are 'mine' or 'yours' - for example, attractive and ugly people or nice cars and bangers.

The design needs to be simple and modern, with no more than 2 colours - and I need to be able to reduce this down to only 1 colour for black and white printing (perhaps you could include a single colour version?). As for the colourcheme, I am not 100% as I will be basing the site design off the logo but it needs to be fairly bright and attention grabbing - I was thinking perhaps a pink/purple with black, but also like the idea of orange, green, blue, white etc.

I would like an arrow incorporated into the design, with the head pointing horizontally. This could either be separated from the design or integrated.

Again, I emphasise that it must be fairly simple as I will be using the design on various different things, from business cards/small badges to posters, t-shirts and the web.

I would like the design in a vector format, preferably PNG as I work with fireworks, I would also like the font file if possible - if it is a commercial font, perhaps a link to where I can buy it.

The winner will get $50 PayPal on acceptance of the logo and the contest will be running for 7 days. I may not choose a logo if none fit my needs.

Well, I will leave this in your capable hands - I have seen some fantastic designs on here so hope I can get an awesome design!

I will try to leave feedback for every design, I may only be able to check once a day though, the contest is running for 7 days so there is plenty of time.

If I have missed anything or if you have any questions, I will try to get back to you asap.

Good luck and I look forward to seeing your designs.

Kind regards
Simon

Should I have posted in the 'New Marketplace'? I only just found this but it doesn't seem to have an area for posting graphic design contests... Am I missing something?

Thanks

This is the right area, but most people here are specialized in Raster graphics. I've seen a few Vector specialists, but I'm guessing that he hasn't seen it yet. Though, his graphics are great.

Raster is pixel based, bit mapped images. Photoshop, GIMP, etc. I'm new here, you're coming back, so we're both in the same boat on that one! :P

As I thought! Well, I will need my design in vector as I need to be able to scale it up and down with no loss.

Is that too simple, or is it okay? For the versatility you need, I didn't want to put too much to clutter it, but any feedback would be appreciated and implemented.

Oh, and it's an Adobe Fireworks PNG (at least the copy I've got).

Hi guys, glad to see a couple of entries...

Kerrick - A good start, you've got the concept right. If I had to categorise that design I would say 'futuristic', what I want is probably more 'comical' but not over the top. Perhaps a font change and less sharp arrows would make a difference?

Ninjax - Very nice, you seem to have hit the nail on the head with this idea, it's nice and simple, I'm guessing as it's only the font and an arrow that it can be scaled up easily and it's got that kind of fun feel to it! I don't like the background but I'm guessing thats only for the sake of watermarking? Perhaps you could try changing the black to a pink? Something like #E10078 - this is a colour I've been experimenting with on my design.

Well, a couple of nice entries. I hope to see some more over the next few days.

Cheers guys

Thanks for your feedback! Yes, the background is for watermark purposes.

Okay, I've done a more comical, less sci-fi font, and I've softened the arrows significantly. Oh, and I've put the color you mentioned in place of the pink-purple.

Also, here's a preview of what it would look like in Black and White.

Hi guys.

For some feedback...

Kerrick - I feel this designs lacks something, it isn't really too attention grabbing and I don't get any sort of feeling from it. An improvement on the first but I think it still needs work. Still not keen on the font.

Ninjax - Very nice, ideal colours and immediately gives me a professional but fun impression. I don't think I can suggest any improvements. I would say you were in the lead so far! Is this in a vector format and is the font available (either freeware or around to buy)?

scorpionagency - I feel your design would be better suited to a corporate business rather than this site - it's for a fun and silly game to be played by mainly youngsters. While I am waiting for a logo before designing the site layout I already have ideas of a vibrant and lively look. Not sure what the symbol is about but I would get rid of that to start with, looks nice but it is just an extra addition to clutter the logo. The key here is simplicity.

staaadesigns - both designs are nice. The first gives me the impression of a comic book, which is good but I am not sure if it is quite right. Not too keen on the font in your second design though. If I had to choose, I would say the first one. I am still somewhat undecided as to whether or not this is what I am looking for! As for improvements, I am not really sure, perhaps have a play with the font a little? Currently I would put you in second place but I'll have a think about how my design could look.

woosh - nice a simple, easy to modify colours and play with, so it fits the specification. However, I feel it doesn't give a very professional impression and is something I could have put together myself in a couple of minutes. I prefer something that is more integrated so it looks like just one object.

st3wy - very basic and the right sort of idea but a couple of points (no pun intended! hehe) Firstly, it has a gradient effect - I need solid colours due to printing etc (particularly when it comes to t-shirts and single/2 colour flyers etc). Also you would have to lose 1 of the arrows.

theinspirer - I look forward to your design!

I am pretty impressed so far, so well done guys. The leader, at the moment, would have to be Ninjax - a nice and simple yet memorable design - followed by the first design from staaadesigns - again, clean, simple and fun looking but perhaps a little too 'comic book' for my liking.

Well, we still have 4 days so hopefully there's time for a few more designs and the lead may change!

Thanks again for everyones entries, I really appreciate the hard work.
