I made a few changes to the login box,, making it round to match the theme. I also tried something with the nav to make is stand out. I think changing the blue to another colour would be too drastic and would look too weird.

I have done a dark blue/green version of the NavBar at http://www.dreamedupdesign.com/flats...new_index.html.

Would you like a lighter blue version?

I'm in the UK so available your hours (I assume?).

Yourmediaking. Yes that's another good variation on the login box.

For the login box I was thinking more of myspace or digg style - I mean with the rounded corners / kind of colour gradients or slight drop shadow.

Look at the drop down menu on the nav bar. Can the login box use those corners and shadows too?

Once a user has logged in the login box changes to display certain information for them so it would be something that would be referenced to often throughout the day and thus has to look good.

Foundationflash. Yes somerset. Same hours but the cider makes for a short siesta at sun down.

How about the blue being similar to the Join Now badge with a gradient light to dark?

katesrobyn I like the look of the login box. Again this is a minimalist style which does look good - shadow on the text inputs, icons next to links.

Does the nav bar work? It has to be a drop down on hover like the code I currently have.

I'm not so keen on the background image of the bar itself. Can you reposition it like what yourmediaking and Foundationflash have done?

I've changed the login area again. Using round corners, and a little effect to the background of the box. I've also made the input boxes a little narrower than my previous entries.

katesrobyn I think the nav bar is still a little noisy. The tabs are nice but I am looking for a plainer look for this site.

Here's some examples of what I had in mind:

Nav Bar

Subtle gradient getting lighter towards the top.

Login Box

Same colour and gradient. This can either be the same size as the nav bar or shorter in width. It can either be square to make more of an impact or rounded like the nav bar. I think the square actually looks better though.

Info Boxes

The info boxes I originally made look OK but I'm thinking they need to be a bit rounded.

I do like Katesrobyn's centre column boxes - Archives, Categories, Cool Links etc. I think they could be used for some internal linking (I am looking at putting Video tutorials in that centre column), but the info boxes in the right column could stand out and the round boxes I have here l think look good.

Overall Page

This is the idea I had. The login box and nav bar are subtle colours but draw the attention to them.

The green bar now doesn't look the right colour so it may have to go back to the lighter green (are these pastel colours?)

I'll leave it to you guys.

Remember, the nav bar has to use the current drop down css / html which you can get from the test page.

yep still open. I think there are only three entrants so far.

katesrobyn has done some nice designs but not exactly as spec.

yourmediaking has got the idea right. Could do with a working example of the nav bar though.

Foundationflash has produced a working example of the nav bar but no reply for a few days.

Just a reminder that

a) the nav bar code I have on the sample index page (you can download the code / css to see it) has to work

b) the design has to work fully in firefox 2/3, IE 6/7 and Safari

c) I much prefer the colour scheme of the login box, nav bar and info box I posted in #29

d) The colour schemes of the rest of the page (h tags, body text, horizontal bar, background / side panels) need to be experimented with to look right on the page.

If it's proving too difficult, or viewers think the price is not enough I can bump up the prize money by another $50.

Hi.. will try to post another concept on the "nav menu" similar to #29 .... as I also balancing the themed colors, which are the blue and the green... that's why it's a bit not on your real specs... hope you understand... but I will try to come up with a new color balancing. Thank you.

Hi,
I fixed the issues with IE and is now compatible in the requested browsers. I touched it up a little more and added some style to the sidebar. I also changed the font of the nav bar, h1 headings and fixed the colour in the h1 headings.
