I created mine based fully on the design. I hope gradients work in logo, as your website is using gradients anyway.

I'd say any competition is open until a winner is chosen.

now whether or not the OP wants to extend the closing date is another issue... or indeed if they are even going to respond anymore

In this case, that's not really an issue.

If it's after the closing date and the OP hasn't made a choice you can submit something, just realize the submission may or may not be considered.
