I offer this up for discussion: if the end date for a comp has passed (as this one has End Date: 3/24/10 ) then i don't think we should allow any new entries unless the contest holder specifically asks for them.
otherwise why bother having an end date? all it does is make the selection harder for the CH if more entries come in after the date and prolongs the whole selection process.

it also means that anyone posting after the deadline has the benefit of hindsight (i am NOT inferring copying of ideas) that is that they have feedback from all the initial work of the other posters and it makes it easier to refine their own submission in the light of the CH's feedback for all the others, i.e. some of the design process of colour selection/elements has been done already.

what do you all think?

hi dave, i have annouced my joining march 19, before the contest ends... (see my earlier post).
i just submit it late, due to my internet connection problem... but it's up to the CH... it's okay, whatever he approves... no prob.

announcing an intention to enter and actually submitting are two different things. an end date is for submission

if you submitted late then just say that you had internet problems, and then tight a**s like me don't jump on your late entry

I know i feels like i'm singling you out: i'm not. i'm just raising this whole thing of end dates

Hi everyone, I'm very sorry for dragging this out for so long, we've had a death in the family and everything is kind of crazy right now. The new designs look fantastic, I'll get them looked at and have some feedback asap.

To davemies, I have absolutely no problem with allowing no more entrants after this point and totally agree with your arguments.

OK, guys, the policy has always been that the CH is held to the end date s/he chooses. The CH can always request an extension, of course.

As for participants, they can submit entries after that, but, as in any other business transaction, the CH may or may not consider them.

Hi all, I just want to apologize for how long this has taken. Between making arrangements, taking care of the funeral, seeing to all of the family in town and now trying to sort out the future this has been the last thing on my mind which I know is not fair to any of you.

davemies, if you're ok with making a couple of small changes I'd like to go ahead and award the prize to you. Your design has been the most liked by the people I've asked and I'm looking for something that has mass appeal. To everyone else, thank you very much for your submissions, I thought they were all great, and I'm sorry I wasn't able to give them the attention they deserved at the end.
