Hi,

I am looking for a new logo to be designed and also a banner for the top of the site! I would also like graphics for my new site rating system!

Firstly the logo for the site, i was looking to maybe have a front facing arcade game unit, standard type atari sort of thing. then maybe have SGR scrawled accros it or something! This woudl basically just be a transparent watermark to put over graphics and screenshots etc.

I would also like it included in the banner! It needs to be 1000x150. And if possible fit in with the colour scheme (link at bottom of thread). I would like it to show "Scotts Game Room" and I like the slogan some one devised for me so if you could include that then i woudl be greatful, although if u have any other suggestions they are welcome.

Finally i am compiling the new review script at present! I am looking for a 5 star rating system to be put in place. So i am looking for a graphic design similar to GameSpy i guess similar size, transparent background so its just a simple 5 stars. I would then require it for 0 stars, 0.5 stars, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5!

I would be very greatful with any help that could be offered on any of these three!

The color scheme can be found here

Color Scheme

To see the review page go to the site above and click on review in the navigation bar!

The banner above i want changed so that it looks more proffesional! Thank you to any one that offers to help in advance! You will be credited when the site is launched!

I apologise inadvance if im slightly picky and want small things changed, best to save it before sending! lol!

Cheers in advance!

Making your site larger than 800by600 will ensure that it will never be popular at all.

Just a quick suggestion.

although being true i did look into this and i found that most gamers used a 1024 x 764 resolution! However i can see your point! I may look into changing this, i just think that most people these days do have bigger monitors so bigger reolutions? Any ideas for graphics btw

Also to be fair gamespy runs on 1024 resolution and that is a very popular website! I can see how 800 res people get annoyed by having to scroll accross, but i mean i guess without being rude the web is changing so is technology and i think the bigger wider your page the more content you can fit in so people need to keep up with the times? Any one got any thought on not only this but the graphics?

I say the 800x600 is for sites that need to be accessible (vision imparied comes to mind).

If you go to http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp you will see that the majority of people are going to larger resolutions, if you also look at the other months and years you will notice that it is a steady climb.

As for the graphics, I might play around with something tonight or tomorrow.

I am sure you are aware of this but there is an error on your page:

I, for one, use a very old monitor with very bad graphics and resolution. However, after viewing this at a friend's house, it does look alright with the current resolution. I did have a go at the graphics but then my drawing program crashed. Super sorry.

Use percentages in your coding and you'll fit to any resolution...

Sizing images with %'s (well, sizing them at all via <img width=x>) makes it distort.

Some people go as far as to make multiple versions of their website.

i really dont find a problem with using % but if you really dont want to i think its fine to have it that big it will just encourage people to change to higher res.

Actually I was talking about using % in the design and layout of the site not the images. If the images are going to be as big as 1000 pix as stated in the first post, then there's no use for %'s in the design. Users will need to adjust the res or scroll left/right.

Not too many ways around it if the images are going to be that big...

again i have tested this theory out before and i did a rough survey and miost people preferred to use a bigger monitor size! Ofcourse i am sorry to any one who cant see it fully on the page, but i have taken stats also form sites such as gamespy which does use 1024 res! % just would not fit the design!

I may be able to introducce a prize! I dont really know what i can offer right now! Ill have a think!

Just a thought... I doubt people would buy a new monitor if their old one works fine just so they can see a website properly. If that is not what you're getting at, then I'm sorry; I don't understand. Also, I can't see how % can't fit the design - I may also need an explanation in this as well. Of course, this is 100% you site, so feel free to ignore me if you wish.

Basically by what i mean when i said 100% wouldnt fit the site, if you look at it now all the images fit in perfect place, where as if it was viewed on a bigger or smaller monitor than intended for then all graphics would fall out of place, also as it uses iframes as well the iframes would become bigger or smaller and everythign jsut wouldnt look right! its just easy to have it set out as a set size, to me any way and i think the site looks nice how it is! i didnt mean for people to go out and buy a new monitor, just that most people generally have bigger monitors these days or better graphics cards to accomadate such a resolution!

Any one with ideas for the GFXs btw this is really what im here for?

I have thought of a prize i coudl offer but being a studnet i cant afford much! Either a blink 182 limited edition post from there recent tour of the UK or a stand up speak up nike writst band to suppport anti-racism? any one interested?

I think most people who are into games will have big monitors and high resolutions. I think you are fine with the resolution your site is in now. Anyway, I will try to be thinking of some graphic ideas to help you out.
What if instead of offering a material prize, you just offer to put something about the artist on your site??? Im a student too and i know how money can be tight, but I think publicity would be a good substitue.
