Hi,
I am in the process of designing the layout for my new site, www.notsounknown.co.uk (only temp site online at the moment). I am after a bit of a re-design of my left hand menu bar. Here is a screenshot of http://www.notsounknown.co.uk/images/1.gif and here it is in context http://www.notsounknown.co.uk/images/2.gif.
I am willing to pay between $30 and $60 for some help to get this done... Basically I want it to look a bit nicer. It must stay at 220px wide and use the same or similar color scheme. Ideally I would like to use the same font (zip file) and little headphone logo's (zip file) but if you can do something better, please do.
I can do the html part so all I really need is the graphics, although I would like you to re-produce the table in html for me to see. I need to have some blank headers so I can make up any other tables and any editing I need in the future. I would also like the source files (psd or png) so I can make any alterations.
Feel free to move things around, I'm not happy with it so I'm open to suggestions (it really needs to stay 2 column), especially if you could move the cart part somewhere it would be good (please not that it expands vertically when items are added;
1 X Item 1
2 X Item 2
3 X Item 3 etc.
I will pay the money to the best design I see, it really needs to be within a few days or a week at the most.
By the way, incase you didn't realise the site is an MP3 download site for unsigned alternative bands.
Here is the zip file with font and headphones logo;

Thanks in advance, any other questions please let me know. I may also want some other work done in the future so bear that in mind.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies. To be honest I don't really know what I don't like about it, it's just bugging me as it doesn't quite look right. I think it just looks a bit to big and bold if you see what I mean, I'd like it to be a little more subtle.
Jake... I like the idea you've got there, do you have any ideas on the 'cart' and the 'new // specials' table, particularly the second as I have 2 columns, I want users to be able to be able to easily tell that the item on the left is a new release and the one on the right is a special offer. Also I would quite like table with 2 tabs on the top so I can switch content over. Obviously I'll make sure you get an email from PayPal for your time. Also, do you have a portfolio online anywhere? I quite often need little bits of work done here and there when I just can get my head around it or need fresh ideas.
Thanks everyone
Simon

I whip something up tomorrow that includes everything you need.
I need clarification on the two top tabs, what are they going to be used for?
My website(portfolio) isn't online yet, it's been an ongoing project to get it completed. :/

Thanks.
The tabs... The top (browse) menu will be as it is just static etc. The Shopping cart part I would like two tabs on the top, I will be using this scrip http://webfx.eae.net/dhtml/tabpane/demo.html to control the content for each tab, basically I want one to say "Your Cart" or something similar and one to say "payment info". If the table below is left blank then I can sort out the content for each.
As I mentioned above, I would like people to be able to differentiate between the New Release (left) and special offer (right) items on the next table, I don't really know how to achieve this.
I would also like a blank table (header etc) so if I need to add any more info boxes or whatever in the future it can easily be done. If possible I would like the source file (psd or whatever format you use) so I can edit the text if I need to.
I am looking foward to seeing what you come up with.

Don't worry about the shopping cart part, I'll work around it, not sure if it would work anyway. I like what you've done there, can you make it into tables for me? Ideally I would need it split into the three sections. If poss could I also have the source file. How much would you like me to send you in return for this? I'm not sure the sort of time it took and as no one else has given any ideas (and I like this) I'll go for it!
Simon
PS. Please note that I am in the UK and it's now 3 in the morning (just got home from work) so my replies may be delayed!

How would the menu table be divided into three parts? I would think that it would just be one large table or several smaller ones.

Bu**er, I've just finish my attempt and the challenge is over. Typical. Here is what I came up with anyway.
Menu
Instead of having every option laid out in full, there are tabs to each section. They aren't coded tabs, they are just images, so can be easily manipulated etc. On the example, there is an active link on 'By Genre,' just to show the idea 'in action.'

LGR, that's cool, but it looks very different from the current site and would look a bit out of place.

LGR, as Jake said, it does loook pretty good but I don't really think it fits in with the rest of the site, but thanks for doing it, I appreciate it.
Jake, I just said that because that's how I currently have it (Browse, Cart, Offers), with the way that the software works each section is divided into templates that are loaded into the main area. Since then I have found out that I can load them all into the one table, so just as one (or several smaller ones) will be fine. However it comes then will be great, I can do any changes that are required. As mentioned before I would like the source graphic if possible.
Thanks
Simon

Jake, are you going to be able to produce the html code for me? If not could I have the source file and I'll do it myself. Also let me know what you think is a reasonable price for me to pay you (within my range).

I was thinking 20 for the design(before you asked for the code), but with coding, 30 sounds good.
Ill code it and give you the source.

Ok, do you have the rest of the site coded? There would be no chance my coding conflicting with the rest of the page if I have the rest of the code.
