gramma's monkey is, I would guess, a piece of clipart and if you intend to use the logo as a design for t-shirts etc. you will have to be very careful regarding copyright laws. Whilst the cliparts are available for personal use, the original artists tend to the reserve the right to request that the image be kept exactly the same in it's use and not be resold. If you're using it to promote a company and hence make money, there could be some issues that arise. That's why it is better to go with something original, something different.

Just something to bare in mind.

Yes that is clipart, but I have it on my disk also, so it is on a clipart cd and can be redistributed.

It can be redistributed - But you can't sell it, edit it, nor rebrand it and claim it as your own.
You especially can't make a profit off of it.
You have the right to use it, and that's about it.

ye its just like ebooks, you can redistrubte it but can not sell most of them

Important points all... I absolutely must own the artwork. This will be profesionally marketed. Don't want to run into any trademark or copyright issues. You never know how a site will do but this one will, at the very least, will receive National exposure.

Still a good looking monkey... and nice work on the logo gramma..

Great group of designers in here. Even if we do not use a logo from this forum... someone still gets the $50. Deadline is this evening so post'em if you got em.

here's mine - i think the text needs to be bigger so if you were interested in using it i would suggest taking some of that that 20-30 pixels of white space next to the logo (when resized to 800x600)

p.s. 50 dollars is a bit stingey with the exchange rate at the moment with the rest of the world - i mean huh it's like 2 peruvian pebbles or something

the monkey I used was clipart BUT.... it is public domain from 8 years ago....

I can not resell the cds it came from but the "graphic are free to use without special permission".

Clipart on your own cd, or as part of a website that offers it such as clipart.com is public domain. You just cannot resale it by itself.

Whether clipart is in the public domain or not, you can't use it as part of a corporate identity and/or brand. The artwork is not original and the copyrite not owned, even if the artist hasn't already claimed it.
