I am looking for a mascot of sorts to make my site stand out a bit more.

I am not sure what I want, but I want something noticeable and cool looking. Possibly an animal with human characteristics (clothes, hat, etc). Sorry if I am begin vague but Im not sure exactly what I want yet.

An example of what I mean as a mascot can be found here: http://www.deviantart.com/fsfe (yes it is supposed to be an error) I know that particular one probably took a lot of time, and I dont really expect anything of that caliber, but that is just the general idea of what I want.

As for size, I am looking for something that is going to fit into the tabs at the top of the page (so not too too big). I may also ask you for a few variations after I pick a winner.

Vector is definitely a plus but I guess its not required.

you want this to be "on" one of the tabs or above? I'm thinking that it's going to make a difference because it will have to be impressed on the tab rather than a separate transparent graphic if that's the case.

And are you saying deviant art is owned by someone at this forum? Thats pretty sweet, da is an amazing site.

Yes, if you want it on the tab then we will need the tab to work with - and I believe that I'm right that Blakehil is the owner of deviant art - check the $200 photo contest post in this forum - he won one of the prizes.

No, i'm not the owner of Deviantart. I just have webspace there because I am an artist.

About the mascot, Any idea what animal you would like? What is the purpose of your forum? Who is the target audience? Any thoughts on colour scheme? Do you know what aspect ratio you want it to be?

Well, no I'm kind of indecisive as to what animal I want. Sorry if this is too vague for you. As for color scheme I just want something that will go well with the current skin but wont be too offensive with other skins.

The forum is just a general chat forum.

As for aspect ratio, I dont know what that is.

I'm working on something. It isn't going to be a vector, however the psd will be 800*800 so it should be fairly versatile.

This is an original animal that I came up with.
Lineart done in flash, colouring done in photoshop.

Thats definitely an interesting design, but not quite what I am looking for. Im looking for something that is facing me a little bit more than that. Also, I dont really want something that is growling/looks ferocious

. More something that has a cool look to it.

OK is this even close?
It is REALLY scrappy since I did it in about 20 minutes (I have to be up for work in the morning). If you like the rough idea I'd be happy to clean it up, shade it, and give him a left arm.... It is (or will be) vector.
BTW the fedora doesn't HAVE to be red....

Oberon: Not really what Im looking for either. It is way to sketchy for me, and I dont really like the overall design so its not really worth cleaning up. Thanks for the entry though.

I will try to come up withy some more specific guidelines.

ya.. I'm afraid the arena is just to wide without a framework to work with once you narrow it down you'll probably get a lot more ideas.

Yes I speak french fluently, though english is my first language.
