Okay guys, let me try and make this as short and sweet as I can. I have a trophy/award store with a website. The current website is VERY outdated and Im ready to step into the 2000's and update it.

A few months ago I bought a online store type template and got a copy of FP and Dreamweaver MX and was going to do it myself. Well being a business owner, husband, father, etc I am really too busy to mess with a website design considering Iv never done it before. So I came on here offering to pay someone and a guy accepted. He just about finished my homepage and then I never heard from him again... guess it was more work than the originally thought...

well months went by and I never did anything... now iv got a few spare mins each day and Iv been tinkering around with what he had done... Iv actually done a few pages on my own and I think its coming along nicely...

now here is my problems.

1. i now decided I want to add a shopping cart for my items, but have NO idea how.

2. I would like to upload what I currently have done to my domain, but I cant figure out how.

as for #1, its something I would like to do, but have no idea whats involved. I do not know how to code AT ALL, iv just been playing around in the 'design' mode of FP to make my site so far. But before I go any further and make more pages, id like to know how to add shopping cart to what Iv previously done and continue from here on out...

as for #2, this is where I am totally confused.

I have an index.htm page and about 10-15 more pages done with alot of images. I have been doing this in frontpage and not dreamweaver. when I try and open one of my pages in DW, the code comes up fine, but the design part only shows a little box stating copyright for my business... i cant see the rest of the site... so iv been doing in FP because I dont get that in FP.

now, I am hosted by homestead.com and with homestead they make u use this thing they call SiteBuilder program. Its kinda like a dinky FP program and you design your site with their program. But if you want to do it outside their program you can, u just upload your files using their "File Manager" which is inside its SiteBuilder program.

Supposidly its really simple, you just import your files, then save and publish and waalaaa!... but not so for me...

i imported my index.htm file, and the jpgs that go along with it, publish and i get error saying that page doesnt exist, etc

iv contacted tech support and they keep telling me the 'how to' and i follow it but it doesnt work... i found one guy online that told me that its the stupid Frontpage extensions causing all my problems, i should use Dreamweaver... he said homestead doesnt allow extensions... well im so stupid when I hear extensions I think of the xxxx.HTM part... is that what he meant? because on my PREEXISTING website thats online now, in the file manager it says INDEX not INDEX.HTM

when i import my NEW homepage, it actually says index.htm and im wondering if thats why its not working.... i tried to rename it and just delete the extension, but that didnt work...

so im thinking FP somehow has corupted my code or something, but since I dont know code I have no idea how to tell. Im also thinking this FP crap is reason I cant use DW properlly....

SOOOOO... im desperate for help... im pulling my hair out and stuck... i dont want to spend anymore time building my site if im waisting time cuz I want shopping cart, not sure if that can be added when site is complete, or needs done while i built...

and id like to figure out why I cant use Dreamweaver and why I cant publish my files online...

if someone here is smarter than me and can get me going, id be forever in your debt!!! u name the price.

i have all my files zipped up and its pretty big, id love to email it to someone and them take a look at it and get me in right direction....

if anyone has a kind heart and is willing, please speak up!!!

btw, here is my old school site i built 3 years ago with their "sitebuilder" that is in need up updating

Hey there, as you know, I've been trying to help you out in your other thread, and also through email. Now that I see this request, I now really want to try and help you, as you seem to be very stressed because of this. I know what it's like, and I've been there, along with a lot of other people here.

Since you have already sent your zipped site to me, I already know what you are working with, and I feel I may be able to answer your questions, including the one about the shopping cart.

This message will continue on into a PM

Could you possibly go with a CMS? Their pretty easy to maintain without any coding background. A few are:

http://www.mambo.com
http://www.drupal.org
http://www.phpnuke.org

Most of these are popular and users have made shopping cart modules for them.

Also to upload you need a FTP program, you can use IE by typing ftp://yourftp.com or download an FTP program such as FileZilla.

Unfortunatly, part of his problem is that homestead requires you to use their sitebuilder for all upload stuff.

I have been trying to find a way to get aorund that...
