Hi everyone. I have posted competitions before and have always honoured payment to the winner so please enter with the knowledge that I am not here to rip anyone off! I am looking for an identity or logo for a new business enterprise that I am starting called "The Building Trust". The business will incorperate all building types and trades. I am looking for a faily corporate feel but am open to any ideas. As the business has not yet started so I will let you have some fun, with no real guidelines, colours or fonts in mind. I look forward to your entries. I will also give regular feedback so you can tell if your designs are along the right lines. Good Luck!

Requirements:

Color scheme

You choose! I don't want anything too cluttered but have fun!

Type of design (i.e., banner, logo, layout)

Corporate Identity - name and logo if possible.

Desired size (i.e., height, width, file size)

No real guidelines here but it would be good if it could be resized. If you win I suppose you could supply the design in a few different sizes.

Prize

I will choose one winner regardless of use so a prize of $20 will be put up.

Be creative. This competition will run for a minimum of 7 days (Until 12th December) and a maximum of 14 days (Until 19th December) Prize will be paid by Paypal.

I look forward to your entries! Good Luck!!

Can you share a bit more about the nature of your business and it's intended audience? Are your clients going to be those in the construction industry, the home buyer, architectural firms, the real estate industry, etc...? A little more about your target audience and the purpose of your venture would help me (and I'm sure others) immensely.

Thanks much!

I will provide a little more information misslee. The business is dealing directly with the public. It will provide various services within the trades - ie. Plumbing - roofing - construction - joinery etc. I hope this is of help and I look forward to your submission.

Hi Scotland,

Do you have a domain, or is that part of the "identity"?

Thanks

Hi there Harvey. We do have a domain but we do not wish to include this in the logo / identity.

Hello, Scotland.
I have had a quick attempt at an identity for your business.

It would be good if you could let me know exactly what you like and dislike about my design and I can improve it throughout the week.

What is the basic premise of the site? Is it simply a directory of building-related organisations, or will it be a more corporate, all encompassing site, offering a variety of articles, information etc.).....

Thanks for the first entry. I think we are looking for a more corporate look. I like the idea of the hard hat but I don't think it would work with the image we are trying to portray. I don't think that the font is quite right but I look forward to your next entry.

LGR

I am wanting the logo to be used on the website but also on letterheads and busines cards etc. The business offers the general public access to different trades as mentioned above. I suppose you could imagine us as a building contractor. We are looking for a fairly corporate look but also are looking for fun, imaginative and colourful entries.

I hope that helps LRG.

Here's my first attempt:

Please, if you have any comments/criticism or questions about this design, PLEASE let me know, and I will try my best to satisfy your needs!

I am more than happy to make any wanted modifications to this, and will also be happy to make new designs!

Thanks for the entries so far.

LGR

I like the idea behind these designs. The font, however, is a little too industrial and I don't like the reflection on the second entry. I think if you thought about this a little more and went for a slightly "cleaner" entry - it would look really good.

nac

Nice clean design. I am not convinced about the "logo" next to the name though as as far as I can see there is no relation to the context. I think that out of the three I prefer the second one. The first entry has the words too close together and the third does not work with the "The" above. I think that your idea has potential though.

170designs

I think your ideas are great but for some reason it does not work. I have spent ages trying to work out why but I can't really explain it.Perhaps the builings being a block of the same colour as the writing below drains the impact from your design. Perhaps more detail in the buildings would also improve this entry. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Trentond

Thanks for your entry Trentond. I don't think that the font is right for the image I am looking for. It is a little too "cartoony" - as for the logo, I really like your idea but I don't think this particular design works. I don't know what other advice to give you but I do look forward to your revisions.

Thanks for the entries so far... Keep them coming!

I really like your idea but I'm not sure it has the right look for what I am trying to achieve. The idea of being able to choose different colours for possible different applications within the company appeals to me though. I suppose that I am realising that I am looking for a more corporate look and your design and font don't really mirror that. I hope ou go for another entry as I do like your style! Thanks.

nac

I really like these entries. I prefer the second though as it is more balanced. I don't like the building that you have included in the first as it looks a little simple and I think that because of the design of this picture the whole logo looks a litte strange. The second entry is your best yet. I like the tree but I'm not 100% sure about it. I think it may look like a government environmental company but I may be wrong. It looks a lot more balanced and solid and has my thumbs up so far - but I do look forward to more entries if possible.

I have remembered why I like the tree - a large UK building company called Barrat uses it in their designs! So we can't use it or we will be sued! sorry.

Gringo
Thanks for your two entries gringo.
- entry 1 - A great idea but I don't think it would work for an identity for the company. I keep imagining it as a flash animation for some reason!
- entry 2 - I'm sorry Gringo but I just don't like this one. It looks like a menu button.
I can see that you have a great imagination, and put these together well, and I look forward to your next entries. I'm sure you can come up with something fantastic! Thanks

LGR

These look much better than your previous entries, but I think that I am slowly deciding that I would prefer a cleaner more corporate look. The designs are good and the idea is great but I think that you would have to adapt it to be a cleaner design. I think that the buildings in the background are a little to blocky and my look better with more detail or in greyscale. I hope this helps and I do hope you have another go or two!

I am really impressed wth the entries so far - keep them coming!
