Hello, I would first of all like to say that I nkow absolutly nothing about Photoshop, I am currently useing the DEMO of version 6.

What I need help with is editing an image that was originally made in Photoshop. The image is of a button for a website. I have the font used, and the background, I just don't know how to use the effects that was used to make the original image to make a new button of the same style, but just with different text on it.

The button is attached. Again, I only want to be able to change the text on the button, but I would like to be able to use all the text effects that is used.
For instance, I want a button that looks exactly like the one attached, only I want it to say "Downloads" instead. Then I would like to know ho I can make several different types too.
Thanks for all the help, sorry if this post dosn't make sense, It's like *glances at clock* 3:13 AM so I can hardly keep my eyes open, good night,

It looks like the text has a 'stroke' of about 1px - white

Also it may have an 'outer glow' which is the red colour

you can get these on the layers panel by clicking on the little circle that looks like it has an f in it

Stroke of 1px solid white.
Outer glow of white, about default settings.

Jake, would you mind instructing me on how to set those settings? I'm afraid I downloaded Photoshop just last night, so I'm completly lost within it

@Flashart,
I was able to view your message this morning, however, now the forum says I don't have privleges to send, or view messages. Oh well.

The image you made was wonderful! Two inprovents could be made though,

1) The text should be a bit bigger, so that the top of the "D" (or the white highlight in this case) in "downloads" touches the very top and bottom of the background image (look at the Login button, it does this).

2) There's (as Everlastingeye pointed out) an Outerglow (I would guess) which makes the image lighter around the letters, This is defiently needed.

Other then that the images look GREAT! Thank you for the time you spent on it for me!
Thank you to everyone that took the time to post here

Right click on the layer that your image resides on, and select "Blending Options".

The size and color are pretty self-explanatory.

Thank you so much! With the help of you all, I can now make some pretty cool text effects with Photoshop! This is starting to make sense
I played around with it for about thirty minutes, and because of Jakes wonderful screenshot (a picture is worth a thousand words) I figured it out after toying a bit
Thanks again for all your advice guys!

No problem. Glad that my picture helped. Photoshop can be very complicated if you are just starting out.
