Graphic Design Contests

Hi all,

Anyone who wants to have a go at this one i would love and value your input. The prize money of $30 will be paid by paypal even if the winning design logo is not used on the site. Even if its not immediately used on the site i might use it for button links or banners for the site at a later time.

Im building a dating site - its regular standard dating not adult. The site is called redgoldfishdating.co.uk. Currently i work on a jobsite called redgoldfish and you can see the logo we use on it. Ie a fish with bubbles going up. Other examples of buttons and banners used can be found here.

What im looking for is the use of the fish (with a curved mouth) used in some way to depict a relationship. It could be say two fish kissing?? or something along those lines or any other ideas you have

Requirements:

Color scheme

You choose! I don't want anything too cluttered but any idea considered! Im thinking that it should be redfish as per the links, in blue water background but it doesnt have to be this way, thats the way im thinking but this is a new site and needs its own identity yet needs to look related in some way to the job site

Type of design (i.e., banner, logo, layout)

Corporate Identity - name and logo if possible.

One version of the design would be on the home page as a large image (banner 3 size or larger) - would like to use this rather than the usual pictures of two people you see on the home pages of dating websites or use say a smaller one for the top left of the home page which could look more of a simple corporate image.
Another version could be like banner1 but static and used on the top of the frame on results pages. In all cases im looking for a type of dating/ relationship theme

The image must be static - no moving images.

Prize

I will choose one winner regardless of use so a prize of $30 will be put up.

Be creative. This competition will run for a minimum of 14 days (Until say New Years Eve) if i get an entry in we want to use and a maximum of 21 days (Until 7th Jan) if anyone needs longer due to being away over Christmas. Prize will be paid by Paypal.

The fish aren't actually kissing, but form a heart shape with their bodies and are at least playing an aquatic version of footsie!

LGR - The fish need to be similarish to the ones on Redgoldfishyou could change them to have say a bow tie on (pure guess, or anything) to make them different but they need to follow the format.

everlasting eye - it will be interesting to see how that turns out. I am running a strap line contest at the same time you may wish to enter.

Hi all again,

Just to give some further input if it helps most dating sites follow a standard sort of format, a typical site may look like this

In the example the design could include either the logo top left and or a large graphic to replace the couple on the left of the page. Or as the search box is on every page it could even be something around the search box.

When you click on a search the results are always displayed in a line see Yahoo personals and another graphic would be required at the top of all results pages.

Which ever way you decide to go with this is up to you, it’s an open house.

What im looking to achieve here most of all is a theme that I can follow throughout the site that shows individuality in its own right yet relates to the parent job site, the winning design/ designs will be selected with this in mind.

Bitz,

Its nice but take a look at the fish on Redgoldfish that we use in the graphics, you can copy these, adjust them, put them in coats if you like but the fish itself needs to be of a similar so that we have continuity of the brand - hope this helps.

Thats very nice i have to say.

Did you try it to see what it looked like with the redgoldifsh wording we use ie the red in red colour and the i in fish with the fish full stop? interested to know if that works with the hearts in it in a different colour or if the name only works in black?

Also, can the fish mouths be rounded? they look happier and we are using the rounded mouths on our current marketing for the other business so it would tie in better.

Over all, your design is superb, the standard here is amazingly high

I made the fish look like they are smiling now. Unfortunately the font used for your 'redgoldfish' site is too thin to have the hearts in so I have done two variations. One with the heart lettering and one without. Also, the red and grey became too hard to read over the big heart so I moved the text.

The other way around it would be to have a 'brought to you by redgoldfish' type thing at the bottom like in the third image

You are onto something here, i really like the design

The third logo down, replace the redgoldfish dating in black with the redgoldfish dating in colour from the second one, in exactly the same place as you have the black one. Then change the two fish mouths to rounded ones like the ones in the fist banner as shown here

Insert the strap line "Plenty of fish in our sea" put forward by Ickie (not decided if this is the winner yet as we have a couple of other good ones from miss lee) lets see how it looks.

Hi Bitz,

Its a nice idea, i can see us having to award more than one winner here and it may well be we use different designs for parts of the site. I may have to somehow get some of these along the same theme. Once we have all entries in we may to agree that the winners adjust slightly to follow

Currently, what the logo will need for certain is:-

1. The fish must have round mouths
2. The letter i has to have a small fish as the full stop. see our existing grahics. We may have to run with lettering similar to what we currently use for continuity.

I will need i think three different sized graphics and it may well be three different designs

1. Small Button Logo 120 X 60 ish

2. 530 X 80 ish Strip banner which will form the header on all results pages

3. 253 X 260 - large square ish graphic that will replace a picture of a couple on the index page.
