Lately I've been thinking about converting my blog into Wordpress. It'll be so much easier for me to update instead of uploading the HTML files over and over each time. The problem is, I can't seem to make it work with the layout. I downloaded a template and I was planning to change the style sheet and images so it'll look like my current layout (with the original intact credits of course), but after 4 hours of trying I can't seem to get it fixed right. The only positioning area to shift the width and height of the content that I found didn't want to change even though I tried.

So what I'm asking is: can anyone please code the layout right so it'll be workable with Wordpress? It's a divided layered layout so it has two columns. You can see what it looks like here: link. All the coding is there on the layout itself (the content and style sheet). I just want to convert all of that into a Wordpress template if possible. The template I downloaded was the second one on this page: link

If anyone can help me it'll be great! I don't want to get rid of my template that I worked hard on. Just as long as it's coded, I can work with the sidebar by myself.

Do you have a link to the template you've worked on? I'll be happy to take a look and see if I can offer some advice. If all you need is to adjust the content width and height that shouldn't be too hard to find and fix.

The layout of your current site isn't far off from the default wordpress template. I recently added WordPress to my site and I've created my own template to match the rest of my site:

Yeah, the template is on this page: bouncy-bubbles.net/goodies/wp_themes.php

It's the first layout down the list. It's similiar to mine, navigation and content positioning-wise.

I still feel a bit lost since I'm only good in HTML, not PHP. PHP and me don't mix, I just can't seem to work right with it. I only recognize the few areas with HTML/CSS and have managed to change those, but other than that I can't find another way to do this.

MoonxChild, what I meant was could you post a link to the version of the template you've been modifying. The one on your site, not the orignal one you downloaded.

You mentioned you've spents a few hours making some changes. If I can see that one I think I can help a little. It will help me to see what changes you've made so far and how your theme is looking after you've made those changes

Thanks for trying to help out, but I already managed to install it after trying for a while longer. Now I only have two questions:

1. How do I remove the "Comments are closed" statement at the end of pages?
2. How do I change the time so it shows my posts in Central time?

I tried messing around with the time formatting in the Options menu but nothing changed.

Btw, the URL is: http://www.visual-nightmare.com/wordpress/

Glad you got it worked out. Sorry I couldn't help more.

The time thing is easy. You just have to login and choose 'options' On the 'General' tab which comes up look
for the 'Times in the weblog should differ by' It's right below the UTC time. You'll need to subtract 6 so enter -6. I know it's -6 because I'm in mountain time and I had to subtract 7. Not a great explanation why, but it will work.

After you finish with the 'General' tab click on the 'Discussion' tab. You probably have 'Allow people to post comments on the article' unchecked. You'll just need t check the box and while you're in there you may want to look over the options so you can decide how you want people to be able to comment.

That should be it. Remember you need to update both pages before leaving them so your changes are saved.

Hopefully I was more helpful this time. By the way I looked at the site. You did a good job making it look like the rest of your site.
