Hi I am wanting a logo designed for my band, Eclipse. I am willing to pay. Im looking for something reasonably simple (but not boring) and very bold ( i would like a logo that could be done in different colours and definitely in black and white). I am not too good at artistic stuff so I will leave this to your creativity, though Im wanting it to be quite simple. It would also be nice If the logo could be shown with Eclipse written along it. No deadline. The more different logos you can produce the better, and will definitely pay for each chosen!

angele803: i quite like the idea, however we definitely need one that would fit a black background, because we have a picture of an eclipse, and we need to place a logo on the black bit in the centre of the image (which can be seen at this site http://www.allthesky.com/eclipses/corona.html) as we are going to use that image for album covers and custom bass drum skins etc.. also i was thinking more of a text based logo (maybe with a smallish icon too which suits the band name) but definitely not "layered" like that one because the logo will then be placed onto another image of an eclipse

yes we need something we can put on that image, but we also need a logo that we can use as a "stand alone" type logo when we do not have that image in the background...if you think this is stupid maybe design two different ones and i can pay for both or something like that...

CannonBallGuy: i quite like your design...however one thing that i am not so keen on is the reflection of the logo beneath the first one, maybe if you took away the reflection it would be better...definitely a good idea though...im not yet sure whether more dull colours like a white or a light grey would work best for our "classic rock" image or a vibrant bright red or orange colour (not sure which would go with the eclipse image best either)

If I choose to make it without using a vector program, how many DPI would you need it to be?

Blakehil: if you did it without a vector program it would need to be at least 300dpi or more. well we definitely need a black and white sort of logo to fit the picture which i stated earlier can be seen athttp://www.allthesky.com/eclipses/corona.html)
but also it would be nice if it could also be used as a stand alone logo which could fit on to a sticker/badge/t shirt or the like - so maybe one with interchangeable colours or something?

Talktechno: like the idea...simple but effective i think (maybe a different font would make it more effective - not sure what do you think?). if i were to go for your one would you also be able to design me another one, quite similar, but would fit into a smaller space...maybe like the crescent moon shape and then in a rounded shape around the dshape of the crecent moon write eclipse in a nice font?

Bitzerotech: maybe you could try to incorporate the icon into the text because as i said the logo will need to be placed into the pictured which CannonBallGuy has posted with his logo, so i think it may look a bit odd if the icon and text are seperate.

CannonBallGuy: i like your designs a lot - still not sure about the colour, but i like the way that you have made it so it still has the same impact whatever the colour on the inside. maybe it is the "glowing" highlight effect that does it - i am going to need to talk with someone else to help me decide on a colour - i am not too good at deciding! haha
