Hi W-T Designers
i think webmaster-talk admins should band people who put on a contest but the never reply or choose a winner they should give them a week to reply if they don't they should band them

those people are making a contest and we keep trying to win but they never choose a winner (wasting our time) i've been here for around year now and i've been scammed around 3 - 4 times.

I know this is the wrong forum. reasson for posting it here: because that where all the designers hang around

I agree. If the forum staff want us to stay here, to enter contests, they should help us out a little.

its not the forum staff's fault..its our fault we should tell them what happend and i'm sure they will do something about it.

Hey

The problem is most of them wouldnt care about getting a ban. Most just post 1 contest and then never come back. And if they did want to come back they could just create a new account.

The solution is simple. Just have a escrow service where someone puts in a competition, the person whos doing it will need to pay at least half the prize money.

Of course that might not be the best solution but it's a start. I'm sure people who have to pay half the prize money up front will be more serious as they already given thier money away and therefore will be more likely to get something back in return.

I would say that it would not be upto the hosting site to hold the money in escrow. I would had no disagrement with posting the money to a site that is specialized in handling those types of arrangements; eg https://www.escrow.com/index.asp.

I would also suggest that if a person renegs on a contest that his private information could become public... Just add that small disclaimer into the sign up contract...

I've seen that solution on anoder contest forum, the contest-holders give the money to the admin, and when the contest is over, the winner sends the psd (and/or other kind of files)
and the admin then trasfers the money to thw winner and sends the logo to the contest-holder...

and for the $50 contest I'm sure It's not scam, the guy has just been always late with the posts, or maybe he found a better design and left the contest alone...

I agree with GlobalGamez. I think the contest holders who just leave contests un-finished should be banned. I know I have wasted my time on some of these contests before. And even though a person could just create a new account, I dont think I will participate in anymore contests where the member is "new" and only has a few posts. The escrow thing is an option, but I doubt it will work. It is a lot of extra work for the moderators. Then when you consider paypal fees, transfering money several different times will make a $20 contest nearly worthless.

Thats not a good idea. I been banned from Americas Army game forums when I haven't done anything. I haven't even registered there, just play the game. Later I found out it was someone else who was banned from the same ISP, just that I was unfortunate enough to have his IP.
