Graphic Design Contests

Hello all! I'm the guitarist for an up and coming hard rock/metal band based out of MD called "Almost Human." We're currently in the process of recording our debut EP, and we'll be designing our website directly afterwards.

We're looking for someone to design a new logo for the band. It can be as simple or elaborate as you like, as long as it fits our style and music. We could be compared to bands like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Metallica, RUSH, Corrosion of Conformity, etc. We're looking for a logo that reflects that direction, and would encourage anyone to look to those bands logos/album covers for inspiration (no "death metal" designs please). We're not concerned about color scheme at this point. I've tried to find some samples from bands online for logos to help, and here's some of the ones I found:

Just to give you an idea of what we're looking for. Something with the name and a basic logo along with it. We're offering up $50 for the design as well as will note them for the design creation on our album, "Making of" DVD, website, and anything else we use the logo for in the future. We will also need some album cover art and possible additional web design work done in the future, so if we really like what you do, we may have more work for you in the future.

We're currently not scheduled to start pre-production on the album until November, but we'd like to go ahead and get some ground work laid for other aspects. If at all possible, we'd like to have a logo decided upon within a couple weeks, but we're flexible with our timeline if it takes us a little longer to find something we like. Thanks!

ooooh sweet ur band sounds pretty good is there anyway i can hear like some sample music from you guys it might even give me some more insperation. i work on something gotta brainstorm something though

Hey there! I wish we had something to post at the moment. Unfortunately, we're getting final revisions of the material done at the moment and pre-production of the album won't start until next month. We're more than looking forward to it. Even though it won't help with a logo by then, I'll gladly send you some rough tracks when we start recording next month if you want to check us out.

Definitely looking forward to what you guys can do!

BTW Critizin, I dig the dark and gloomy, grey and white banner on your portfolio site.

Neonimage i like it but i think that looks alittle to bit punk rockish like green day style and if i am correct he wanted something heavy rock..... im just trying to clearify my self of what he wants.

Neoimage, I do like the idea you have, but I agree with Critizin that's it's a little "punk" for our musical style, which tends to be heavier and a little darker in lyrics and imagery. I think something a little more grungy or goth-like may be more appropriate for the music. I do like the font idea, though.

Chrislong, what you have looks pretty cool, but I think the guys were looking more for something like the direction Neoimage was going for, as far as a name and log combined. The second one looks better and is an interesting concept.

It can still be cartoonish in nature if anyone wants, as long as it gets a little darker overall. A good example would be the logo from Corrosion of Conformity above (last link in my first post). It's cartoonish, but still has that rock/metal feel to it.

One song completed lyrically and musically we have is called "Dead Like Me." It talks about the darker side of fame and fortune that most people don't think about. Where as a lot of people picture fame as rolling around in cash, with a girl on each arm as you drive down Sunset Strip in your new sports car...this song speaks about thethings most people neglect to think about. Never being at home, living out of hotel rooms or the back of tour buses, hardly ever seeing friends and family, not having a private moment to yourself with the camera's constantly flashing around you...and how it drives some people to drugs, alcohol, etc. It's too much for some people to handle, and you'll never live a "normal" life. The fame basically takes your life. And this song poses the question to those that want the spotlight...do you really want to be "dead like me?"

Note that if u wanted me to make ur a website header or anything else it would look alot better then this is just a fast one to see what it would look like...

wooo... tough decision. i like the last 2 big time, but considering the ability to see the image/logo design from far away, also the resizability of the logo tells me that Rakien has the right idea. Lookin' good, bud. Tough decisions on this one.
