Graphic Design Contests

Hey Guys,

Looking for a logo. A pretty simple but classy one. I am currently in the process of buying a bunch of stuff, such as a website designer/template combo (hit me up of you know of any). This is why this contest is so cheap. Hopefully you guys can help me out.

Logo: ATP Holding (it is an entertainment company)
Look: Something sleek, cutting edge, with a corp. feel
Size: Doesnt matter but I want it to be big enough so you can read it

I would just like to point out (sorry if thtis sounds dumb but) If you do logos at your best ability for just $10 then other people will come on looking to host a comp and they will see all these for only $10 and then they will host theres fo that amount too meaning there will be less and less comps paying good amounts of money.

Maybe they should have a category for Under $20 Contests...and another for Over $20 Contests. That way everyone can continue to do what they do...and if they elect themselves to work on $20 and under comps. Well they are happy with what they get. To tell you the truth. If there was just a couple (like 3) designated people that would work the Under $20 Contest per day...with that contest ending 24 hours from the time it starts. They could make some good money, because they would know that the contest would end within 24 hours. So everyday would be payday. And an active designer could make some dough being actively involved. Its possible to win 5 contests in a day if there are 20 contests going at any one given time. A student designer can win 5 contests and make $100 a day sitting in his dorm room creating designs. Even if he is a student.

Let me tell you first hand. Everyone has ideas...but everyone doesnt have a load of $$$ like the Corporate Companies do. So it makes sense that there are some designers out there that will work for less. Its not like every single one of these Under $20 designs takes a whole day to create. A good designer already knows his fonts, colors, effects, programs, etc. That he can whip something up within 10 minutes if he chooses to. If it takes him 10 minutes...well I never heard of someone making $20 for 10 minutes, while other designs take longer. As long as their is communication and the openess to work...there are buyers with an openess to buy. Like I said, we dont all have a butt load of cash to spend. We have micro budgets too.

I had the worste experience when I designed a one page mini application site...and then I contacted a web designer to do the same thing. They wanted $5000. I scratched my head for a moment...because it took me 2 hours to do. But they were saying it would take 30 hours like I was retarded or something. All in all, I believe big budgets can pay big bucks...and small budgets are anyone's like you and me...who can afford what we can afford.

I am being strictly honest. If felt it was necessary to put my 2 cents in. Some designers think their work is worth hundreds of dollars but yet they are still learning...so they dont take any work. Some designers take everything...small projects big projects and everything in between. So they are busy working, learning and making money. Its kind of like the loan business. When you work with a customer, there is no guarantee that the customer is going with you even if you work with them for a whole month. But if you are honest, communicate effectively, and do the best that you can do. Most of the time, they will go with you...because they trust your experience. Doesnt mean they will pay you top dollar. Sometimes my best customers are the biggest cheapos. LOL

As much as you guys do have great points. I am still trying to get a logo over here!!!

To be honest there are people who have not been doing this long or just starting out. These contests are great for them. Then there are people who do this as a hobby. These contests are great for them. I rather pay somebody 10 bucks and have a pick of logos, then pay somebody $100 bucks for samples I don't like. Whoever I pick, will get repeat business from me (and im sure other people on the board too have had that happen). But please, argue after I get my logo (j/k).
