What do you think are some fair prize amounts for the following categories? And I mean prize amounts for THIS forum. I know a graphic design business could take in several hundred dollars for a logo design, but keep things in perspective. This is a webmaster forum with designers of all degrees of ability. Here are some suggested Categories. If you think of another category, feel free to add it to your post. I will try to keep my post updated with your category suggestions.
Logo -
Web Page Header -
Static Advertising Banner -
Animated Advertising Banner -
Mascot/Character Design -
Avatars/Icons/Small Images -
Web Design (no coding) -
Web Design (standard CSS and HTM coding) -
Thanks guys!

I tend to agree with the prices i-love-pitza has, one - we do have many people on here with varying degrees of skills and two - you don't want to turn away those who can't afford the higher prices, for me $25 US is a bit more in Australian dollars so for people in countries with lower currencies once converted it can become quite alot, logos can vary massively but if people are wanting a character included in their logo design or they want designers to go the extra mile the price should compliment this

I would say $25 to $50 for a logo; maybe $10-$20 for a header or micelanious little things, and maybe $60 for an uncoded template.

Logo - From nothing, to anything.
Web Page Header - From nothing, to anything.
Static Advertising Banner - From nothing, to anything.
Animated Advertising Banner - From nothing, to anything.
Mascot/Character Design - From nothing, to anything.
Avatars/Icons/Small Images - From nothing, to anything.
Web Design (no coding) - From nothing, to anything.
Web Design (standard CSS and HTM coding) - From nothing, to anything.
Some work on this forum is not worth anything - and is usually found in the threads where someone is looking for free work.
Other work on this forum is priceless and some of the best I have ever seen - I really wouldn't want to have to put a price on it.
Contest Holders should be able to set whatever prize they like. If a designer is not willing to produce the required work for that prize, then they can choose to not enter.

I dont think we are going to make a rule for minimum prizes any time soon. But I would like to put up a suggested prize amount table. Just to give CH's an idea of what we think is fiar. I just need to see what the designers feel is fair.

Yea that's a good idea I don't think forcing people to pay certain amounts will work here either tbh but it may help CH's see what they should be looking at for design requests

I feel $0 is fair, as is $1,000,000,000.
It's all relative.
$0 is fair if they are desperate, only need something very simple and I am in a charitable mood.
$1,000,000,000 is fair if they want 1000 different, top-quality web designs, each totally different and... etc.

Agreed.
Well, I would suggest doing like a budget guide
For example
$0-10 - Low Quality Logo or Static Ad Banner or Small Graphics
$10-20 - Medium Quality Logo or Animated Ad Banner or Forum Header/Buttons
$20-50 - High Quality Logo, Web Template (uncoded)
$50-200 - Coded Template, Mascot/Character Design
I highly suggest you put no limits on; because I don't mind designing for $10. I just spend less time than I would for $50. I spent 5 hours today for a $300 one somewhere else, and twenty minutes on a $5 one...and I'll probably win both. I think WT should be known as one of the forums with the cheapest rates and the most reliable members instead of the highest rates and not much work. I love WT. I'd love it to stay similar to the same. I am kind of tired of people PMing me..."Will you make me a logo for free? Can I trade you a link on my HIGH traffic website for a header image?" "How many daily visitors?" "About 20-" ...

Can you grow up a little, please?
Just because you disagree with something doesn't make it wrong or unhelpful.
I have a right to - and was asked to - express my opinion, which is all I did.

Logo - 60 +
Web Page Header - 60+
Static Advertising Banner - 40+
Animated Advertising Banner - 90 +
Mascot/Character Design - depends 150 +
Avatars/Icons/Small Images - 20+
Web Design (no coding) - 130 +
Web Design (standard CSS and HTM coding) - 250 +
Other wise we are under selling work massively.

That was uncalled for CannonBall and I'm probably old enough to be your mum lol, if you are going to contribute as a designer in a professional capacity at least offer sensible comments and this isn't about you or I it's about the forum if you have an issue feel free to pm myself

First off, Woosh, I agree with you. I'm taking wooshes side.
$0 is fair if they are desperate, only need something very simple and I am in a charitable mood.
$1,000,000,000 is fair if they want 1000 different, top-quality web designs, each totally different and... etc.
That is definatly not expressing your opinion, it's being an idiot. I too am probably old enough to be your dad figuring you're under 21, and I think what you said was very immature and your recallation towards Woosh was uncalled for. And just in case it changes anything, I'm a captain for Northwest Airlines and ex-air force fighter/cargo pilot.

I was called unhelpful and belittled... yet I am not allowed to request that we keep the discussion civilised? Sad. Let's throw in some boasting, just to round it all off.

lol cannonball, i understand what your saying, and you do have the right express your opinion, but on the other side, i think what she might have got offended by was the sentence you put which was
" $1,000,000,000 is fair if they want 1000 different, top-quality web designs, each totally different and... etc."
if u think about it.. it seems like your saying top quality designers charge like crazy while u do it for free, like were going to lose money the fact your doing it for free.. i mean theres more to it... but i completely udnerstand what you was trying to say, but you must of said it kind of wrongly lol

*sighs* I apologize if that was harsh but telling me to grow up was also lol, the whole point of this is to try and come to an agreement on what price ranges are fair .... I just don't think $0 - $1,000,000,000 is a sensible or helpful comment nor saying "if you don't like what they are offering don't enter" thats not being helpful at all it's being sarcastic, anyways ..... we do have people here who are not as good as some and I put myself in that boat, what we are trying to do is bring in more contests but make sure they are fair, this is after all a contest section so $0 is unreasonable that belongs in other areas and some people do rely on this as part of making a living so you have to look at how much time is spent on work for the amount offered, at the end of the day it's for the benefit of the forum and it's members and may pull in more members and encourage the designers to push themselves that little bit more if the prices are more in line with other forums ... I am not here to argue, I am here because I want to be and I enjoy participating in the contests and would like to see this place grow and there are some bloody great designers here
