Yes, but the key word there is "could"......at times, it is very subjective, and the lines do get blurry. I have had this samething happen to me and most recently over at sitepoint; sometimes the "jury" agrees and sometimes they don't.....Case in point, the "fullstop" logo contest (which, btw, was abandoned). I used a "red hand" to shout out "stop". A few entries later, someone did the samething but added "eye candy", which I am completely capable of doing myself should the ch had liked my entry. I felt it was infringement, but the powers that be called it "fair use" and compared it to the usage of a stop sign or a red light. Personally, I would have not entered that contest with a red hand after somebody else had done so (code of ethics?) and I was not in agreement with the judgement call, but I didn't dwell on it either and moved on to the next contest, which I am sure you are doing as well. Keep your filmstrip concept in the recycle bin, make it better and perhaps more unique, and use it for the next contest that can use the concept. And if you win, it's a sweeter victory.

this is SitePoint's policy: "Submitting work which is not your own, or which borrows elements or design concepts from others, could expose you to severe legal penalties by the rightful owner of the work. "
