Help!
My website logo needs to go to be replaced with a modern funky logo.
Details:
Contest is for a logo for website http://www.modernabode.com

Color scheme - Retro colors - mauves, pinks, pastel with a darker shade in there somewhere. A monochromatic style possibly. I'm open to options.

Location of graphic - Left top corner of home page website

Desired size - 9 - 10 cm in length. Could be smaller depending on design but no larger

Theme - We sell mid-century modern pottery, glass, art, seating, tables, objects etc so anything in this category could be incorporated into a logo. Modern means - simple lines, functionalism, little ornamentation

Prize - 45USD paid by PAYPAL to winner

Time Frame - Contest ends Wednesday April 4th at Noon

Good luck and feel free to contact me if you require any further information

First effort. A funky font with these graphics for now but I could change that to something cleaner and more modern looking if you wish. Feedback appreciated.

thanks you guys! i like them both
Borzoid - great. i luv the gifs. the font reminds me too much of another modern site so maybe something a little cleaner looking. is it possible to add in very small font at the bottom something like mid-century modern essentials or decorative arts?

What is that font, it looks so familiar and bothering me that I can't put my finger on it.

tropica,
nice layout and i like the pink blocks on the left hand side but the font to me is too techie. looks like i'm selling computers or software. needs a little more color or so
i'm new here so i don't know how much time you guys put into these projects and i know 45 isn't a lot but it seemed to be about the going rate here

The font is called "fontdinerdotcom sparkly" Can't remember quite where I found it, but you're right Woosh, it does look a bit like the bewitched font. I have seen that.

I will try to come up with another font that fits the logo and will add the tagline. Thanks for the feedback.

here are a couple of different modern fonts that look good with this. If you know of a particular font you like, let me know and I'll plug it in for you.

I also added both tag lines you mentioned so that you can get a feel for what each looks like.

WOW! This is going to be tough. they are both great but I think i like the second one best "mid-century modern essentials"
Can i get some input from others as to what take line suits it best/
mid-century modern essentials or
mid-century decorative arts

I think the decorative arts narrows it down too much. any ideas.
You guys are all so talented it blows my mind

I like the modern essentials best. Giving your visitor the idea or even just a hint that your products are essential gives your tagline a nice hook.

Either line is good and bad at the same time.
The "modern essentials" kind of makes me think...."what the heck is a modern essential???" That could either make a customer look further into your business to find out what it is about, or it could make a customer ignore your business because they dont easily understand what it is all about.
Then the "decorative arts" makes me think of home decorations like vases and sculpture and such, but like you said, it might be too narrow.
So I might not have been much help, but I wanted to input my perspective!

PS - SpacyJane - Thank you so much for the way you laid out your contest requirements. It makes it so much easier to follow and covers all the bases!

I can't wait to see more.
Anyway, I think i'll leave off the mid-century modern essentials AND
mid-century decorative arts and ADD
Distinctive Modern Furnishings & Accessories (in smaller font on the right of page at top)

How about that?
Thanks for all your comments so far

Spacyjane, did you like either of those fonts for the main logo text or would you like to see something different.

can remove the tagline in a snap.

I like both the fonts equally. As for the tagline, i'm trying to come up with one that covers everything and isnt' too long. maybe i don't even need a tag line since i have a title on the left but most of the logo i see have the name and tag line. i'll keep thinkin

The tag line doesn't need to be directly under the logo. It can be above or to the right. The sentance on the right "Distinctive modern ......" could easily serve as your tag line.
