Graphic Design Contests

I've noticed that, for a room called 'Graphics Requests / Contests', there is a real lack of graphics contests.

So, I've decided to get the ball rolling a little by starting a competition. Everybody is welcome to participate and users of any abilty can submit an entry.

The task is to design a DVD cover of your choice, for an existing series or movie. Use the ratio aspect of 700x470 pixels for your graphic. This is a template I found which might come in handy Template

We'll need somebody to judge, so anybody willing to judge, post back in the thread and let me know. I'll do it if nobody else offers to.

You seem to be a bo selecta fan - tell me, why does he wear that neck collar? Is it a medical condition the actor has, or is it for show only?

Well, I'm a fairly big fan of the show. Actually voted number one fan of the show because of my dedication towards it

I actually started off as a casual fan, and started a website which has grown to become the biggest Bo' site around. I kind of got sucked in and learnt a lot about the show from doing the site.

Leigh Francis (plays Avid) gave Avid Merrion the neckbrace to 'add dimension' to the character. Avid supposidly got it when Liza Tarbuck punched him in the neck because he said she looked better in pants than in a skirt.

As a little insentive, the winner can have a place on my sites 'Non related links' page. This have proven to be quite popular and for some of the contacts included on this page of my site, it has generated up to 500+ extra visitors a month to their sites.

Note: I would refuse to add any link to an inappropriate site or one containing offensive materiel.

Thanks, I was hoping it would encourage people a bit. I mean I know it's only for fun and all but it'd be nice to have a good competition on the forum.

Like you said, it does well to have a fiddle about and just design something for competitions like this. Thats how you improve on your graphic making skills

Hi everyone, first post on this site.

Thought i'd enter a little something into this competition. Here's something i made earlier, as they say.

I made it for a friends upcoming vampire comedy quadrology box set thats been/being shot in my area.

This cover is for the fourth DVD, the flopped one. It contains all the bloopers and mishaps that were caught on camera throughout the filming of the films.

However, its not fully completed, i still need the 4 images for the back cover. So for the time being i've placed 4 images from various films there like blade 2, scream etc - just to fill the gaps.

Hope this one is acceptable

Nice cover, it looks really professional, a great start for the contest. Now that the standard of entrants so far has been so high

I'm not sure who is going to be judging, we did have a member offer although I'm not sure if he's going to. If not, I can judge the entries from now on or another member can volunteer for the job.

I'd probably enter the contest, but seeing as I would have limited time to work on it and stuff, I'll probably just watch.

However, I do have a good eye for quality in this area. If you need another judge, I'd be only happy to help

Sure that'd be great. As long as we have a steady judge who can judge all entries and knows his graphics

The jobs yours if you want it then. I'll leave it to you to decide on how you'd like to judge the entries (all at once once the competition has closed or judge when entered)

The deadline has been set. By 6:45am, May 14th, all entries must be in. I'll go through the entries on the weekend and pull out winners
