Contest Closed - Winner: Woosh

Hello Logo masters!! I am in need of a Logo for a new "eBay" style auction site. The new site is Greyhound-Auctions and will be geared towards greyhound racing enthusiast. I would like to incorporate a racing greyhound and possibly some sort of auction gavel. The rest will be left up to your own creativity. The site can be viewed at Greyhound-Auctions to see what you are working with. The Logo most likely will remain in the upper left hand corner. The color scheme of the site will be changed to coordinate with whatever you come up with, so dont let that limit you! If you have any questions please email me at aspenangler@hotmail.com. meh.. theres my attempt, I dont usually do just logos..

If you want something changed just tell me. you didnt really include details, so I just did w/e, but if you have something else in mind, tell me and I will try something

I really like it!! I was hoping to incorporate some sort of "auction" theme into it (ie. gavel, bid card, etc) but I really do like what you've done!

One more thing......the Hyphen is VERY important!! Without the hyphen, the URL goes to a different website that is not mine

Here is my effort. I go to a lot of lure coursing events with my own dogs where there are always greyhounds running. The model for this was running in a photo I took myself.

will gladly make any changes needed.

I second the idea of sponsoring rescue. Many of the folks buying from your auctions will be rescue greyhound owners.

Designers use stock images that are allowed to be used to build websites and alot of designers DO pay for their image stock which they have everyright to use with their work if they wish as they have paid for the licence to use it. There are no rules here to state you cannot use stock images, maybe a rule implemented would help avoid these types of arguments. At the end of the day it comes down to the designer and the client ... FYI sitepoint bans the use of stock images in any logo design work and will remove posts that have been proven to be using such images. however when it comes to the template comps you are allowed to use stock images to fill a website design as long as you have the rights to use the stock. Ask yourself this... if you offer original work then do it don't lie, if you use stock be honest about it. Most people looking for logo designs want ORIGINAL work not something someone pulled out of a site and claimed as their own. There's nothing wrong with using stock as inspiration or a starting point though. However for the small amount that some CH's offer for a logo how much original work are you prepared to do? If you go ahead and use stock images and claim it as your own and are not honest about it, at the end of the day all you are doing is cheating yourself and the client. It's something the mods will need to look at maybe. And after this big speil I think I'll go make something

wow... Let me just start by saying you ALL are very creative!!

Gamerz - Like I said originally, I like the first one you submitted. It is simple and not quite so busy. I also like how the greyhound is stretched out a little bit more in the first one.

Captor of Sin - Your design is very simple and to the point. Any chance of seeing what it looks like with a greyhound incorporated some how?

coolwanz- I REALLY like what you have done with the gavel. That looks awesome! Not to sure about the $ in auctions and it needs to have a hyphen between greyhounds and auction (Greyhound-Auction)

pigbait75- raising money for greyhound adoption is a major part of the site. We plan on "officially" launching the site with an adoption fundraising weekend for Almost Heaven Greyhound Adoption. In addition to the money raised that weekend alone, 100% of all profits from items sold by AHGA will go directly to support the greyhounds awaiting adoption in the AHGA kennel in Cross Lanes, WV. In addition, ANY group raising money for the purpose of adoption will be entitled to free listings. Now... where is your Logo? LOL

borzoid- I absolutely love the greyhound with the gavel!! Very clever. Any chance of spicing up the text just a little?

new new- I really like the layout but I am not crazy about the two dogs in the center. Any chance of replacing those with maybe a stretched out running greyhound?

Woosh is right guys/gals. Lets not start bickering over designs. If you think someone is using a picture illegally then alert a mod otherwise, please don't use the contest threads to air your concerns.

I haven't issued any infractions however, if this type of convo keeps up I will.
