Hi ... grubstreet.ca header is mangy; I cobbled it together, from random elements. It needs spiffying up. My preference is to clean up the header, keeping the elements and colour scheme. Still, changes aren't out of the question. Keep in mind, the site's intended to present ideas, promote expression and encourage exchange, not to sell a product.
My preference is to give creatives a general idea of what's needed and let 'em go. Here's where you'll find that genera idea,

Thanks.

Hi ... that was fast. What about "dog with newspaper in mouth"? Also prefer all lower case. Like the font, but was hoping to keep slogan intact over grubstreet.ca. Definitely a good start, though. Am wondering, if only the type style was changed (lower case letters), and the rest of the header was left the same, if it might be more along the lines I have in mind. Thanks. drg

Sorry, I'll redo it in a sec. Do you only want the "grubstreet.ca" text changed on the original image then?

2)do you must keep this picture of the dog? can you have other picture?

Though I'm open to consider any changes, my preference is (1) for the background to be white, my sense anything other than a white header engages in too much visual conflict with rest of page; (2) my preference is for the dog, but what might you have in mind.
Thanks.

Header Contest Submission Feedback ....

Hi ... all great submissions. Thanks. 8105: 2nd entry of your 2nd set of submissions is more on track, though I'd like to keep the magnifying glass noticeably away from the letter, "g."
pigbait75: definitely like the overall approach, font and way the changes present.
fran: also like the idea, seems to need a bit of development, but definitely along a track I can envision working, well.
Armanno: the concept is great; I'd prefer the slogan totally under grubstreet.ca and may the font could be just a tad stronger.
Overall, am impressed by all submissions. The decision isn't going to be any easy one.
Thanks.

Hi Fran .... as I mentioned in my original posting for the content, my preference is to give creatives a general idea of what's needed and let 'em go. My experience is that creatives work best when they set their own parameters. Though I mostly want a cleaner version of what I have, there are designs in your mind I haven't and can't conceive. I realize this isn't what you wanted to read, but this approach has worked well for me, over a long time. Thanks. drgeorgep
Thanks.

Pitch 2
- Bolder text
- tagline under title
- additional detail to dog
Second idea is for longer banners (900px)

Hi ... more great stuff. Armanno, the first one of the last crop is more along the lines of change I had in mind. Maybe tilt the handle of the magnifying glass in and down to reduce overall width.
General question: are these submissions going to work more or less equally well at the four sizes indicated in the specs?
As well, the last dot-c-a should be white-red-white. Colours of other letters okay and, ideally, not repeated.
Am starting to get a better sense or what's possible.
Thanks to everyone. Still lots of time.

As you can see in my first post, it can be applied to the different sized banners, but for the biggest one, due to large with, greater spacing in "grubstreet" looked more appropriate, such as below.
** will correct tagline error
