please see the below image - i'm trying to work out how to do this..



You see whats happening there is text is being typed and then using the lasso tool .. part of it is being selected and 'pulled away' from the rest of the text.

Any help would be apperciated,

1) Type the text in
2) Convert it to curvers
3) Lasso the curve object and you can edit it as any other shape now

Where exactly is convert to curves? I found 'curves' window where you can manipulate the curves.. but no conversion?

My solution is actually how to do it in Corel Draw but the fundamental is the same. It might be called something different in CS2.
You need to find the tool that converts a text object into an editable vector object.

if your making it into a vector object, in photoshop it should be under layers>type>convert to shape but if you just want to cut it out, all you really have to do is just make a type, rasterize then use the lasso tool

you should make make a type rasterize first then you can cut it....
