Pen Mouse or Mouse Pen? Has anyone used or is currently using one? What are the major advantages over a regular mouse?
I am thinking of trying one out and not sure if it is really worth it or not. Can anyone suggest a good one? Thank you.

The difference is like drawing with a pencil, or drawing with a brick. Mouse=brick.
Buy one. You'll never regret it

Agreed
I have one and it's great for drawing. Be sure to buy one with pressure sensitivity. I have an AIPTEK Tablet, it's a great low-cost tablet...paid R$ 210.00 (brazilian currency) which would be about 68 dollars.

If u need any tips on what softwares u can use with it, message me....

cya!

I have a Wacom Graphire Tablet and I absolutely love it, can't go without it! The pen is a must for photo editing, graphic design or basically doing anything in Photoshop, IMO. The pen is pressure sensitive and works great for precise drawing, erasing and selecting. I find it a lot more comfortable to use then a mouse. You can use the pen for everything. I still personally prefer using the mouse for browsing though and the mouse that comes with the tablet is cordless and the scrolling button works great.

Definetly recommend to anyone a Wacom tablet!

Think I might check out one of these soon. Do you have to do anything to flip between using the pen or you mouse?

hey shawnz, no you don't have to do anything to flip between using the pen or the mouse.

When I switch to the mouse I just put the pen back in the pen holder and when I use the pen, my mouse is just sitting on the desk beside the tablet. You do have to make sure that only one of the two (pen or mouse) are touching the tablet when you use one or else it will conflict.

I was just looking at them again. I didn't remember that they came with a mouse of thier own. Do you happen to know if you can you use another brand mouse ( I really like my mouse I have) or buy them separately?

Which one do you have? I notice there is a big difference in price between the 4x5 and 6x8 (almost double the cost at newegg.com)

I bought a cheap one, and it's like drawing with an ELEPHANT that keeps
trying to sit on my hand. It was a pretty awful experience

Hey Shawnz,

My tablet is a Wacom Graphire2 4x5 (same as Graphire3). I got it as a gift 6 or 7yrs ago. Back then I had a tiny desk and small 15' monitor and I don't think they sold all the other fancy ones... My tablet still works great but I do wish I had a bigger one now. I have a 19' monitor and use it quite a bit for digital photography and I sometimes find myself going out of the 4x5 area. When I do get the bucks to buy a new one, I'll probably get myself the Intuos2 Platinum 9x12

I suggest you check out www.wacom.com. You can click on the icon "which tablet?" and determine which would suit you best depending on what you are going to use it for.

I don't think you can use a different mouse with it. The mouse that comes with any wacom tablets work great. They might not be shaped like many new mouse out there but they don't have a tracking ball and are very precise. I use the pen more anyway so the shape of the mouse isn't a problem for me. Whatever tablet you get 4x5, 6x8... I think Wacom is in the top of the line for tablets.

Anywho, happy shoppin'!
