Hi,

Could someone please recommend a free image compression tool? I've looked all over, and the only ones I've found are trial versions (they all have very severe limitations, like not being able to save the image or having a huge watermark). I need one that's totally free. Thanks!

Hi fonz,

Thanks for the link, but I need an image compression tool that works with JPEGs, as all the pages have the image listed as a JPEG. I also cannot convert this image to a GIF without a dramatic quality loss, as I only have Paint on this computer at the moment.

If you're looking for another image editor you can take a look at my website, there you can find various image editors who can also change jpeg in quality gifs. I personnaly recommend Fireworks 4.0/MX. Al the images displayed on my site are created with Fireworks MX. For a direct link to this section of my site: Image editors

Fireworks compresses your images pretty much, but I've tried one of the links above from Fonz and I saw that it can be compressed better with that one. Although the programs in my last post are excellent to convert your jpeg images in quality gifs.

If you want to compress a JPEG further from it's originating program, open it in MSPaint (XP) and just save it again. Drops the size quite a bit.
