A fellow member asked me to fix the text on his flash banner. The font, Comix, that he is using was showing up as default unless user had that font.

Instead of changing the text to raster I chose to recreate the text in Photoshop and import them in as symbols.

I erased all of the text and replaced it with the new images.

Now it looks fine in all browsers except IE6. For some reason it is showing on the first few lines correct and the last few as a default font.

Can anybody help us fix this?

This was my first and only Flash animation, and I foolishly forgot to rasterize the text. I cannot right now afford to get the program to fix it and can't seem to get the demo to work, so I was kinda stuck. Kim was kind enough to look at it for me. You will have our undying gratitude if you can do the same.

I did it in CS2; she re-did it in CS3.

Well dang.. I only have access to Flash CS3 at work and it's not even on my machine, I'd have to borrow a co-workers . Thank budgets for that nonsense.

In order to convert text to vector shapes, you have to break it apart twice - the first time gives you the separate letters, and the 2nd time breaks it down to vector shapes. Now it's completely divorced from the TTF and is a vector - a bunch of paths for each letter which you can manipulate, do shape tweens on , etc. Once you break it down, you group them again to get your custom text that doesn't rely on the user having a font file.
