Hi,

Wasn't 100% sure were to post this however i figured this would be the best place, please move this mod's if you see fit.

Right... if anyone has ever read any of my posts before you will know i have some sort of mental issue which prevents me from explaining anything correctly, bare with me please!

I am using a mac and in there designer iWeb it has an option to insert videos, this works fine with videos i download, no problem.

Here is the Q. I want to do this with a short DVD which i own (nothing illegal it is from a partner company). However when I put it in my laptop it automatically runs, when i open up the folder it just has a lot of different files and folders with loads of extensions i don't recognise, however there is no direct movie file which i can copy to my computer.

Does anyone know how i could get the movie saved to my desktop in just a plain quicktime/windows media player format to insert?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Regards,

Dave

I'm a little confused. Is the video file you are trying to get already on the web? Is it on a dvd? What are the file formats your experiencing.. DVDs are vobs.. many different video formats.. sounds like you might need to convert what you have to what you want before you can use it the way you want.

You can transcode dvd's using VLC Media Player (it's free). I recently wrote a brief how-to rip dvd's on my blog which is aimed at iPod users but the majority of the process is the same.

I have a lot of experience with dvds

You'll need to rip it (not literally of course).

Download and install WinAVI Video Converter (i use it and its good) for free (if you catch my drift) and select the avi option. Select ALL the .vob files on the disk. Its usually vob, not sure in your case though
