I have taken a bunch of short avi movies with my digital camera and I want to make 1 (longer) to watch on my PC/Share. No DVD burning. Output must be AVI (no windows movie maker...)

What software should I use?

Depends on whether you will be editing the existing movies (cutting pieces out or rearranging scenes) or just stringing together your existing clips as they are. A simple joiner such as WinAVI will join them end to end, but if cutting/rearranging is your intention, an editor such as Adobe Premiere or something less pricey is what you need.

if editing is required to be done...I would suggest Sony Vegas....you can download a free trial from their site.....
Dont go for only video joiner i would say...the output sont be tht impressive...but it also depends on what and hw you have shot

My vote goes to Premiere... if you plan on doing this more than once, invest in the best.
