I can't seem to get my movie to load a url (ie. main.htm). I really don't know Flash that well, at all, but created a basic logo animation and then I would like the scene/movie to load a url/web page (ie.main.htm)...I've put a Global Function-Browser/Network...getURL which then reads:

getURL(main.htm);

Do I need to include the page type and method
[ie. (main.htm, ___, post or get)]???
That doesn't make sense if true.

Please help

If it helps the flash file is on a sub folder ont he main site pages (ie. images/logo.swf), whereas the .htm file is just (main.htm), so I need to somehow tell the flash file to go down a folder???

I'm lost.

The way you link to your web page depends on where the movie is when it's being viewed.

e.g. if your movie (images/logo.swf) is embedded into one of your pages (lets say it's in [index.htm]) then you should just link to [main.htm] (like you've done). However if your movie is not embedded in a page or the page your using to display it is in your sub folder (e.g. images/index.htm), then you must link to [../main.htm]. The [../] takes you back down to the folder before it.

(Please note: I am using Flash MX Pro. So I'm referring to it so the other versions of Flash may not do what I describe)

Being as you're doing the simple task of just linking to a web page you need not use Actionscript. You can use the Behaviors Development Panel (should be to the right).

>First select the object or frame you'd like to apply the action to.

>If you press the + button you can select the action you'd like the movie to perform (in your case [web > go to web page]).

>It will then ask you what page you'd like to link to (e.g. [main.htm])

>After you press OK the action gets listed in the Behaviors panel. You can then select an event to trigger the action (e.g. If it's an object you can make the action occur when the user clicks it). However, if you apply the action to a frame, the action will be triggered when the movie gets to that frame.

I hope this helps. If you have any more questions please email me or send me a message.

Thanks Chris...your second option worked like a charm.

I really need to read more about this program.

I really appreciate your help.

It shoud be Shift+F3 (this is the case in MX Pro).

If that doesn't work just go: Window > Development Panels > Behaviors

That should work
