Does anyone know if there is a way of getting Helvetica for free? I dont really like the idea of paying so much money just for a font, no matter how good it looks!

Helvetica is owned by Linotype. To get it for free, you'd have to steal it (I'm not recommending that). Of course, there's Arial, which is close -- and, yes, somewhat inferior. There are a few more Helvetica-esque fonts out there that you can get for free. Here's a page that lists some of them:
