My avatar is what I'll be using for the gravatar version, but this is the main logo of the website:

I'm not very good at logo design, and this is essentially text as well as my first real attempt, so any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated.

It looks good. You've done reasonably well.

My issue was that the background colour doesn't really fit in with the site background. I don't know if it's just me, but I favour a brighter logo. It is more appealing on the eye.

I'm not too big on the font either, you are trying to put across professional and that doesn't. Try to find a more strict, formal font.

The image is good, nice touch.

Overall, your logo is quite good but my advice would be to really spend some time into it as just messing about in PhotoShop can lead to an amazing logo.

Good luck.

As for the site design, I'm still working on it. I will look into altering the font, though. Thanks for the suggestions.

You could try to enlarge the "D" in the beginning and putting the skull inside it.

Looks good you are on the right track. I would like to see you do a second version where you stack your two words on top of each other vs. having them side by side. This will allow you to have a second instance of your logo for different mediums and allow your font size to be a little large as compared to your icon.

Just a tip - but good job!

I would put white eyes outlined in black in the eye sockets of the skull. When I think of the name DeadlyClever, somehow I want to see a bit of the clever part of that in that dead skull. I also agree with those who have suggested to change the font; you're probably going to want to go with a font that's more blocky and less rounded.

Here's a quick sketch of what I'm talking about, using BoltonBold as the font:

I'm not sure what applications and formats you are using but keep in mind a logo MUST be scalable.
Use scalable format like EPS.

If you already had thought of this please disregard.
I think your design is great for a logo, simple is always best.
Good luck.

Too many posts to quote....so no quoting....

@Yourmediaking
I like the font, but it's probably not a good choice. I shall do some re-vamping.

@roejo
Too complicated.

@wchua24
See above.

@Convert2Steve
I'll try that. I need a banner for advertising purposes anyways.

@steveedge
Unless I'm mistaken, the above is a JPG. I usually use PNGs. I know the skull scales well, so it probably really is the font. >.< As I said, I'll work on it.

@tim
I was actually planning on it being a zombie with glasses for my logo (haha.) However, until I draw that (I require a tablet, and lots of drawing practice!) I'm going with this one. I just didn't have enough good ideas for the "clever" to come across. As for the eyes, it makes the thing look a bit too demonic to me, and I'm trying to be professional. (admittedly, DC is not a very good url...but it stands out, and it's the primary one for my hosting, so I might as well monetize it.)

I did some re-coloring, and I took out the skull. I'm going to wait and just draw the logo myself. Does this work? Is the lettering still iffy?
