Hi, i'm not that good at designing, but i want to become good

That's why i'm trying to create a new layout for my portfolio.
This is what i came up with:

You have a good start W0utR, the layout is nice and crisp! On the left side for me the background is to dark, nice concept though using lines or I call it blinds for a background. On the right side the lines and dashed lines surrounding the text is distracting, personally I would remove them.

I did some small updates, like aligning the text, changed the login form a bit.
And i also deleted some text on the frontpage, after all it's a portfolio layout, that doesn't need that much text.
I also changed the anti-aliassing mode to none, wich i think is better

Hi, for school we have an assignment to create a blog layout for a fictive person.
The typography is important.

So i came up with this blog layout, i still have plenty of time to change things if it's not good.


So, what do u think of this?

The typography looks pretty nice W0utR, bold and clear reading, the green gives it a nice touch.

Nice touch W0utR, the red definitely stands out on the one, clever idea gives the visitor/member a chance to see when the last comment was made.

I figured you were busy with the assignment W0utR, you made more improvements, the blue is very nice. The background could be anything, I assume "JohnnyColl" is a web designer and will be talking on his blog about web designing, you could go loud and flamboyant or conservative.

But i actually changed the layout a lot, but i think this looks a lot better.

Tremendous improvement W0utR! The JohnnyColl looks real good, if I remember rightly on the other graphics, this was a lot bigger, the new one is greatly improved! Now I am going to get real picky and critical, I realize this is an image and things can get corrupted and smudgy. The text/content on the blog isn't clean and crisp but a bit smudgy. How does the text/content look on your computer?

I know the blog project was an assignment from school, just trying to make sure you receive an excellent report.

So i'm trying to get the best out of it.

I forgot to change the anti-aliasing back to smooth (and also because the image was scaled down a bit)

I still need to find a good position for the rss icon, it looks kinda lost their.

The text/content is much improved, but still smudgy in the black text. Perhaps maybe bring the text size up a couple of points. This is why I am being so critical now, I want to see you receive the best report possible on your assignment from school.

The icon is out there, possibly some text underneath the icon. Something else I caught, the logo and icon need to be centered between the top and bottom of the black header.

I know I am really getting critical now......

I changed the text to another font, wich is better readable.

And i actually changed the whole thing again, removed all the background colors.

The teachers liked it, but i'm always open for more iprovements

Oh My! The layout is very nice W0utR on the latest blog assignment, lot of improvements! However I am partial to the color coordination on the graphic below, for me the black stands out, this is my opinion. The question here, what is the teacher going to grade on, layout design or color coordination, or the whole package? Did the instructor mention a background for the the blog? What kind of guidelines did the teacher give?

Hi, i think they are grading on the whole package, so everything about the blog: colors, layout, typography.

We didn't had any guidelines, the assignment was just: "Create a blog about a fictive person".

But i showed my blog to the teachers many times, always trying to improve it, when i showed this, they didn't mentioned the colors.
So i was assuming they where good, but i'm always willing to try and change them.

The deadline is next week wednesday, i'm now putting everyting into html.
But the colors are easy to change

The main teacher is most important who gave the assignment, that's the one who counts! I know I am being harsh but only in a positive way. You know this teacher, how does the teacher grade? What I mean by this, is the teacher an easy grader or is the teacher a hard grader?
