hi, i have a background gradient, and some text im trying to slice up, but every time i make a slice, an autoslice slices up my background as well. is there a way to disable autoslices (and not just hiding them). any help greatly appreciated, as the autoslices chop up my background when i export them. derek

Are you trying to slice up a layer that's above the background ?

i have a background layer, and image links on top of that, and text on top of that, and im slicing the image links, and then doing layer comps, then doing "layer comps to slices" exporting them out as slices. but when i do slices it automatically adds unwanted autoslices, i dont want them. the only way i was able to not have them show up, was to perfectly line up the slice lines so that they get a pink line with the slice before it. then i adjusted the height so the slices were the exact same height. im not sure if that technique will work again. any help greatly appreciated. thanks. derek

PS is going to create slices from the remainder any way, you can't really stop it from doing that. Turn off all the other layers and slice your image links separately. There are settings in the export that allow you to control what you want exported and what you don't.

Here's my suggestion - use guides, use a grid, and make your own 'slices' instead of relying on this method. You'll get EXACTLY what YOU want, not what PS wants to give you. I stopped using the slice tool years ago, it's just too aggravating for me.
