I'm a new owner of a pen tablet, and by no mean an expert, but for what I understand:
1) Wacom tablet don't need battery in the pen, genius does
2) The number of sensitivity can vary from 128 to 65536, depending of the tablet. Obviously, the more the better.
3) Wacom is very well supported and drivers are well maintained, even on older systems (or alternative systems, like linux)
I buyed a wacom bamboo 2 month ago, and have been playing with it since.
So far, nothing to regret (except living in a country where the bamboo is priced around 180$... Man, are the US cheap for electronic stuff)..
