Hello,

I am an occasional web designer and have been making a site for a friend of mine.

One change they would like to see, is to make the text in the header pop a little more, so people can read it easier. They suggested I try a darker gray than the color I am using now. I personally dont think that will work but what do you think? This is my first site that I am doing for someone else, so any help is very much appreciated.

the link is www.ccfeg.com/index1.html

The text I am referring to is the byline under the title: the Doctor's name and who they treat.

I appreciate your help

thanks much

either that or keep the gradient on the right side but remove the gradient on the left - that way, you don't need to change the colour of the text.

edit: actually - if you removed the gradient as per above and have the text a few shades lighter, you will be able to keep the overall tone and at the same time increase the visibility of the sub-heading.

I agree with getting rid of the gradient. I just went through that with a header on a phpbb3 forums header.

Then again what do I know

Actually I like the gradient colors, very soothing to look at. Try increasing the Doctor's name, etc., and decreasing the title. The sub-header is crisp and clean, very readable, you just might have to remove the gradient on the main header.

If it were me, I would try everything I could think of with the text on the main header with the gradient. Sometimes one just has to give up and try something else.

I am not sure if the op is around, perhaps working on the page, Davemies. You suggested black text, which gave me another idea, what about a real dark green text? That way it would match the gradient background, anyway just a thought.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the replies.

I was busy making some other changes but am back now.

I experimented with a few colors and not super happy with them but maybe you can tell me where to go from here:

I set up this page which has a different color text

how does this look and how would you adjust the color now?

http://www.ccfeg.com/appointment7.htm

Lighter, darker, different hue?

Thanks much

Definitely appointment7.htm for me, readable now, actually the blue wasn't too bad either, but definitely like the dark green, my first choice.

I agreed with Giselle appointment7.htm is readable in banners but the appointment request text color too contrasting and it is not matching with the background of your site. dark green does matches with it.

I am going to agree with Pristuno, between the background and the two text (the text in the forum), there are three different shades of blue.

I looks as natural as can be. I might try a different font to jazz it up. Good work. CSS has lots of goodies which would benefit you.

Good luck.

It's better if you change the font in your banner. Try to find fonts that are slim and slightly thin. Then make use of pure black color for that and it will be seen clearly in that case.

generally speaking sans-serif for main copy because the serifs just don't reproduce well at small pixel sizes (e.g. 12, 14px or equivalent) as they would with print resolution.
