Does anyone here use gimp? I've used it in the past and was able to make some really good material. Some people are familiar with it and some are not.

I used it a few times in Ubuntu, but I really didn't like the 3 window part of it.

I still have Gimp on this PC, but I haven't used it in many years. Even my Photoshop cs3 just sits & collects dust. I primarily use vector based software's like: Serif DrawPlus x3, Adobe Illustrator, Corel CorelDraw x4, etc...

From what I recall on gimp (also mentioned by dWhite), was that it was a 3 tier interface. It not only made using it a bit more combersum, but also a little more confusing.

I did like Gimp prior to purchasing commercially licensed software's and think that it's a Great solution for those that are not ready to invest into higher ticket item software's yet. Or even for the individuals that aren't really designers but need something from time to time to assist in a quick personal project.

I like opensource in general, as it provides solutions to those that otherwise couldn't afford it. I think that's the key asset right there.

Just my thoughts about it anyways.

I'm a GIMP user for 3 years now and I can make good graphics and banners from it. Unlike the others, I have nothing against the 3 window part of it. This way, you can cloe and reopen it whenever you need it.
