I am thinking about getting a Wacaom Bambo pen tablet. Anyone use these? Are they pretty good for making graphics for webpages?

Thanks...

To answer your question, I use a Bamboo Fun tablet, which also includes a mouse you can use with the tablet, though I rarely do. I've found it to be well worth the money. Any specific questions you have about it?

No not really. I have been drawing a lot of graphics on paper, then scanning them. Then doing some editing on them with photoshop. Was thinking about getting one of these, then investing in corel painter I think its called.

Is there anything I should know before hand?

I have a tablet, I find it harder to use than a piece of paper (but I suck at drawing anyway)
but for webgraphics... I don't think it would work too well since most web graphics is point and click, point and drag and a mouse is more specific for that sort of thing.

I don't find it any more difficult to point, click, drag with a stylus than with a mouse; oftentimes it's easier.

So far as editing things you've scanned in, doing so with a stylus on a tablet is much more intuitive, and I find making selections much easier too. Curves with the pen tool are also fairly simple.

I think, too, that what I like about it is having everything right there in your hand. The Bamboo has a built in zoom wheel and four programmable macros. You don't even need to touch the keyboard unless you're putting in text, and even then there's a handwriting recognition app that comes with the thing that works pretty well.

It's absolutely very useful thing, especially, for graphic artists, cartoonists etc... and Wacom does the best tablets!

I have been using a tablet for a little less than a year. I must admit that I love everything about it. Worth every single penny.
I have Wacom Bamboo Fun. I could also say that it's probably the my wisest investment ever made.

I can proudly say that I've learned to paint digitally, edit photos 3 times faster, and grew so comfortable that I use a pen to navigate the web.
The possibilities with a tablet are endless! Once you get the hang of it, everything become fast fast fast.
I definately recommend buying a tablet for web design. Most of professionals are using it anyway.

Here are some paintings I made using a tablet. http://soul-root.deviantart.com And for designing banners, buttons, graphics for web and such.. I always pick up my pen.

So called "Fun" Version just has a larger drawing space and is usually more pressure sensitive. "Fun" is definitely better and a little more expensive. It is well wort the buy though.

Yea not necessary, however anything that involves a lot of mouse movement, a tablet will save you much time

I use one. I like to use it in Photoshop when I'm "cutting something out", like cutting out a person to put in a different background, that type of thing. Really good for the Lasso Tool, and the Magnetic Selection tool also, in my opinion. It's good for selecting detailed things.

A lot of times I use pen and paper to draw out my templates. Then attempt to recreate them in photoshop. I figured I can just draw them right on the screen and then make them all pretty... haha.. you know?

Sounds like I should invest in one.
